aftermarket LED turn signal does not blink

i bought an aftermarket LED turn signal. i hooked up and it wont blink it just remain steady. i think it has something to do with the load current. Since LED consumes a small amount of current reason why flash relay wont trigger on. Is it possible to use a resistor to put more current ? if so what resistor? watts? amperes? . i am only using LED for front turn signal. My rear signal are stock bulb.

This thread will help you out: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88022

Basically you need an electric relay vs the thermal stock relay. The linked thread gives good advice for which one to pick up regardless if you have 2 or 4 LED blinkers.

Thanks guys for the suggestion. I found a way. Not the best way but cheaper i think and easier. I bought a regular flashlight bulb 12v 10watts at hardware 2pcs for $2. Solder a wire to the bulb And connect each bulb to each side. 1 on left and 1 on right signal. Connect them in parallel positive to positive negative to negative. This will add load current. And hide the bulbs somewhere.

An inline resistor would work, the LEDs do take less amount of current to be driven. To make up for the loss of load the resistor can be added to the current relay. Else you replace the relay.

One good reason for the relay, however he might have to do soldering any way if the led turn signals don't have the correct connectors or use butt connectors that are crimp on.

Ya know, I never thought of doing it this way but hey, it works!

Oh yeah you can actually fit the bulb inside the turn signal housing. Mine fit but after wrapping the bulb with electrical tape It wont fit. You can find smaller bulb for sure

The big advantage of LED is they do not burn out.

Flag on the play^ ... That's false, not all LED's are created equal, and nothing lasts forever; just two of many points to consider.
Quality LEDs do typically last longer than the old style bulbs though.

LEDs smell great when you toast them lol, they are more efficient at generating less heat from power consumption. Hence why they use such small amounts of current. Like any electrical component they can be set a flame with the right conditions.
