Short gloves vs gauntlet gloves
So I am curious to know, how many of you prefer short gloves or full gauntlets

I wear gauntlets most of the time. Occasionally I wear short gloves on short rides to town and back. I love my wrists and want them protected!

Gauntlets all the time in cold weather like this morning at 1.7˚C they stop the cold wind going up your sleeve and in summer they stop the bugs doing the same.

Both. My Alpinestars shorties are perfectly broken in and I love them for warm weather. When it gets colder I have Cortech full gauntlets and when it's really cold I run Cortech Scarab winter gloves.

I got what was cheap at the time... which turned out to be the cortech injector gloves hehe... I really liked the a-stars shorties with wrist protection, but they weren't exactly in my budget... probably might get some short gloves for the summer but I don't know... just like allyson said, i like my wrists

Depends how lazy I am. Sometimes putting on gauntlets means taking my watch off and putting it in a pocket. If I"m too lazy to do that, shorties it is.

I picked "Don't really care as long as the glove has good protection features "
but the real answer is that if the temperature is more than about 10c (50f) I wear a pair of short gloves as I find them more comfortable. When the temperature drops lower, the gauntlets cover over the cuffs of my riding jacket and keep my hands warmer. ![]()

Regular. My winter gloves are gauntlets and they're a pain in the butt.

Alpinestar GP Techs and Alpinestar GP Pros... even before I bought my bike...
only gloves I wore before I had my ninja and they offer really good protection. After they break in, the "lack of feedback" people complain about goes away. ALTHOUGH... if I had the money, i'd pick up a set of the Dainese full metals (sexy AND feel sexy).. |

As other have said, the weather determines which gloves for me. The colder it gets, the longer/thicker the gloves get.... I rotate through 4 different sets during a year....

I'm guessing the short gloves are the ones that come to your wrist and the gauntlet ones are the ones that extend past the wrists? If so, i only have the short ones...so i can't compare. My jacket extends to my nuckles, so i guess i'm protected?

Your jacket extends down over your gloves? Have you no stinging insects flying around in your part of the world?

Used to have shorties, now have Cortech Adrenaline, love them, doubt very seriously if I go back to wearing shorties.

My gloves are the "1/2 glove" style, largely because I got them for $23. But, they have nice protection over my wrists, which was my biggest concern over short gloves. However, I really like that they are short enough that I don't actually need to take off my watch, and can even still look at it, which is really nice.
Everytime I see someone wearing the short (no wrist protection) gloves I feel like they just picked up the first pear of cheap mechanic gloves they found (which would be about as good as a lot of those gloves actually are...) *shrug* . |

99% of the time I wear gauntlets. I own one pair of hot weather shorties. I only wear them when I am riding around town on 100 degree days.

Like many here I wear shorties (Five Supermotard similar to this during the summer. They keep very cool and the plastic knuckle protectors got nice and roughed up in my crash but kept my hands safe. In the winter I wear gauntlet Frank Thomas'

I just have shorties... My jacket sleeves cinch down over my wrist so it would probably feel bulky/tight to stuff a gauntlet in there. No question that gauntlet gloves are more protective, but I'm just a mellow street rider.

Shorties ftw. I usually just wear gloves at night to keep my hands warm. Mechanix original makes great riding gloves!
