My 08 "Street Fighter"
Hello folks, I just i'd share my progress on an 08 250r I purchased from last year. Originally I had plans on returning the bike into stock form (purchased wrecked), but after putting a lot of time and effort into repairing it, I finally became more interested in the "naked" or "street fighter" look. I will try to add more photos as the build progresses.

It's just trimmed out of the stock fairings.
The pipe is from a Hotbodies MGP exhaust that came with the bike (too loud IMO). The muffler is from a Harley Davidson that I picked up at a garage sale for $5, painted flat black. It sounds awesome! |

looks good. but i think you should get rid of the that ugly surge tank and thermostat. it would be a nice touch to add some kind of border to the top of the lower cowl

^ Forgot to take pics but the surge tank is now painted flat black. Also I am trying to figure out how to get the thermostat and rad hoses covered.

Personally I don't like the fender or lower fairings but looks pretty BA nevertheless! Well done!
Just out of curiosity, what headlight is that? Sorry if it's been mentioned before and I missed it. |

+1 for the clip ons. With the stock fender and instrument package removed, what else would you have a problem with interference and knocking your hands on?
Love the headlight!

What I HATE about "street fighters," with almost every bike, is how people leave reservoirs, wiring, and radiators where they are stock. Clean everything up.
I do like the way you chopped up the fairings though. It still looks a bit messy though. Too many curves and corners. Maybe think about smoothing out the upper portion and turning it into a proper belly pan? Also shape the knee plastics. Maybe even chop up the tail or remove it completely? DEFINITELY chop up the front fender. Mounting points on the tank have to go... The headers have to go. They're so puny any angled completely wrong. The can is pretty unique though. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it's definitely something you don't see every day.

Is the reservoir really something you can just get rid of?
Anyway, I think the front fender can get by being black with green sides or all black. I'd like to see mesh over the radiator |

There still needs to be one. The radiator fluid expands/contracts when it heats up and cools down and needs a place to go. I have seen some people replace them with cooler looking ones.

Factory tachometer in a shell made of an old stainless steel coffee mug. Still not sure how i'm going to cover the needle. I might even leave it exposed.
In stock configuration, there is an electronic board screwed onto the back of the tach, and didn't fit inside of the shell, so I had to relocate that to inside the rear fender. |

Bike looks freakin badass! Just wondering, what headlight bracket you used, what brand is the speedo, and what light you are running. I want to do this to my ninja but I don't know all the specifics yet

Great job! You could try to find a bottle the right diameter and cut the bottom off to fit over the Tachometer! Or make a cover with a piece of plate glass cut round and some rubber hose the correct diameter! Such a cool / low budget build! My bike has the tank to fairing mounts exposed too I was thinking of putting a 90deg bend in some plastic sheeting and then trimming it to fit to the tank to give the tank some sharp angles on the front edges I have been thinking about replacing my coolant res with a SS flask or something else re-purposed. |
