Jackets for small framed men?

Hi, so as a new rider, I still don't have all the proper gear. I have a DOT/Snell Approved Shoei RF-1100, and some FirstGear ankle boots, and some fox gloves. My torso "protection" is just a long sleeve + sweater + hoodie + denim Fox jacket. I really want something with chest/back/elbow protection so I can be as safe as possible, but I am a pretty small guy and have difficulty finding the appropriate torso gear.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 130lbs
Chest: 32 1/2"
Waist: 28"
Sleeve: 27/28"

The only measure that gives me the most trouble is chest size. Even if a manufacturer makes a chest size that small, I can't find any retailers that sell it. If I do find something that fits, it tends to be abrasion ready but no possibility for impact material. I have been steered towards European fits or even gender neutral woman's jackets. I have even seen japanese brands that look like they may fit. But I wanted to ask and see if anyone knew anything off the top of their head.

Dainese is slim fit and also runs into very small sizes. Downside is price though.

As long as it fits and gives me great protection that's all that matters to me haha. I'll check into that brand and see what I can find. Thanks!

Alpinestars is going to have a slimmer fit as well. What's your jacket size? RS Taichi has jackets as small as 36 U.S. I think Dainese does as well.

I'm not too sure my jacket size. Few of my jackets actually fit perfectly. The only ones that do are from Korea and fairly delicate. So I could also check out RS Taichi as asian fits tend to work. And Ill check into A* too. The problem is finding a online retailer with the sizes I need haha. This is good though, hopefully between those 3 companies I might be able to find something.

Hrmm...The only measurement that you might run into a problem with besides finding the right chest size is the sleeve, if indeed your arms are that long

I would go with alpinestars, much cheaper than Dainese. I'm really small too, but also tall which makes it even worse. I would check out alpinestars before you check out Dainese.

I'm 5'9" and about 135 pounds, 30 inch waist, 34 inch chest. I got an Alpinestars Perforated Jaws jacket, size 38 (the smallest it comes) and it fits me quite well. I'd guess it be pretty similar on you.

Haha well that was from my neck to my wrist. I know some sizes measure just from the shoulder to the wrist. So give or take 4 inches haha

I am 5'9" and my icon mesh fits well. Maybe a bit short in the arms but nothing noticeable

I have two no name brand leathers but I wouldn't say they are my size.

Paging @choneofakind for jacket info

You can add a chest/back protector to add bulk to your toso. Fit should improve and your more protected. Win win if you ask me.

Cameron, we're nearly identical size. I've got about 4 lbs and 1.5" chest on you.

For daily riding, I have an SS Twist of Fate (the original one) in size small. It fits pretty well and the armor stays in place. For track time and fun rides, I have an SS Triple Crown suit in size 40 (I think. I'll have to check) and that fits snug with the supplied CE back protector in it.

Don't forget you want to add about 3" to the cheat measurement for back and/or chest armor. If you're a 32.5, you don't want exactly a 32.5" chest measurement on your suit/jacket. It should be snug but not super tight. A jacket should be just loose enough to allow to you wear layers when it gets cold but still snug enough that the armor stays in place.

I think you're putting too much stock in the manufacturer supplied sizing numbers online. Try some on in a store and get an idea of what fits. I think you'll be surprised how off the supplied numbers are.

Hey man! I'm very similar in size to you, I feel your pain!

This is the jacket that I bought, fits me really well. I'm in a Medium which I think would fit you too, but you could always go smaller.

http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/S...FYWDQgod4i8AVA

Yeah yeah I know it's only $200, but I think it's decently priced and it has some good protection, and is well built. They run small so they are perfect for thinner dudes like us. Throw a back protector and chest protectors in there too if you want!

Yeah it's definitely not that great for cold, but it's so comfortable on warmer days, and I'm in CA so we have more warm days than cold!

More enjoyable is subjective. I find perfect leather to be very comfortable in 90+ degree heat and humidity. I also find the added abrasion resistance quite comfortable.

I've found mesh to be a) not very good at keeping me cool and b) nerve-inducing because it makes me question its benefit in an accident.

Don't dress for the whole year of weather with one jacket. Buy the gear that you feel comfortable going down in. If it also has effective ventilation in the right places, that's a bonus.

Thanks everyone for the help! After taking choneofakind's advice, I decided to go with something about 3 inches larger than my actual chest size, to make room for armor. I settled with this, in black/white color scheme! Seems like decent protection (better than my denim/hoodie combo haha) and matches my helmet http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/a...p-r-air-jacket

It did! The jacket does its job and fits fine! What you said about armor and layers was totally true. I will make sure to ignore exact measurements from now on and just make an educated guess as to whether something may fit (or try it on if its in person haha).

So let it be said for any other small-framed guys that may have been in the same boat as me, find a euro-fit jacket with some back and chest armor and go up a few inches in chest size. Worked great!

It also matches my helmet

Thanks man! And actually one of them is bronze, one of them is silver, and the other is gold. They were for Taekwondo tournaments! Quite exciting but frustrating at the same time. There is a 4th medal but it was from HS choir competitions lol.
