Replacing front end electrics
hello all,
im looking into replacing the headlight, mirrors and turn signals with something aftermarket. i bought the bike without the front fairing. the fairing stay w the mirrors, lights and gauges all naked out there look like crap. Its looking like i have to mount all of this to the forks. ill be keeping what stock parts i have so when i scrape the cash together to buy a new OEM fairing kit, i can put it all back together. the bike is a 2005 ninja 250 (of course!) thanks! |

I would suggest turning it into a cafe rafer.
Seems like dimecitycycles has some good stuff to offer, try ebay too and amazon. Pics of the carnage? |

I got them from Speedmoto, but similar things are all over eBay and at good classic bike supply places like Mike's XS.

I don't remember, just the standard Vapor. I think the mounts are all the same. The only differences are the resistor for the tach drive wire and the mount for the magnetic speedometer drive. My speedo drive bolts to the brake caliper bracket.

No problem! I just called them and they want to know the diameter of my radiator hose to match the threads or something. I'm not sure how to find that..

I don't know the diameter either, but I think Trail Tech's temp sensor uses the same threads as the Ninja's. In my case, they sent a plastic hose insert with the brass temp sensor threaded into it:
I unscrewed the stock sensor from the bike's thermostat housing: This part is mounted to a frame bracket above the engine head. Then I replaced the bike's sensor with Trail Tech's sensor, with a little Teflon tape to seal it. Works perfectly. Look up how to drain the coolant in the service manual, because it can be messy if you aren't careful. See http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...ling_system%3F. You don't have to drain out all of it, because the thermostat is almost at the top of the system. |

OH I understand now. No one had ever posted a photo before. I thought they meant the thermo fan switch, on the lower left side of the radiator.
Thank you for your detailed responses Chicagobob, I really do appreciate the support! |
