Yes, you did. This pic was a lil bit farther over too.
Thing is, it's got some lean to go if I can get the front end stable. I forget who said it, but when you start getting da 250 really low, it feels like your gunna crash at any time. lol Boi.... where they right. The whole chassis starts to feel unstable. Since the gsxr rear shock and adjustments, the rear feels rock solid, not even the least bit of slip or sliding. That stock front & bars has gotta go, it's a mess at these speeds and angles. EDIT: lol check my hands (inside hand specifically)... totally different than other pics. I am tight on the bars, a lil bit of evidence that it's sketchy down that low. If I was to lean it over any farther, the front starts to rut and turn inward to the inside with a bit of chatter. That is the bike tellin' me "your gunna eat dirt if you keep pushin' it".

I'm starting to drag my left peg and shifter. I'm currently using the SV racing rear sets(set as high as they'll go), stock shock and running dunlops unbeatens(150 rear). It looks like the woodcraft are a little higher and back than the SV's maybe 5MM. It doesn't feel too terrible when I drag it. I believe this is due to having plenty of room on the Dunlop 150s. But I'm wondering if I should replace them with the woodcraft or vortex(not looking foward to laying out more cash), or just hang on for a bit untill I replace the shock with an adjustable one to get another 5mm lift in the rear. The other optioin is work on my body position so I'm not leaned so much.
Here's a pic of me on track http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...=127839&page=5 |

I seen your pics Doug
2 simple things 1 harder thing Simple: BP, you could always work on that Peg length, how long are the pegs. I cut nearly and inch off mine. Mine offer me just shy of 4'' perch for my feet. Check my avatar, nuttin' but toes pokin' out. Harder: Raise the rear of the bike, the lil ninja actually benefits very well when the rear raised up about 10mm. Be mindful of the change to your front though and adjust as needed.

Can you raise the rear with a stock shock? Did you raise yours 10mm in the rear? If so what did you do with the front? Thanks, |

for stock shock, you change the dogbone lengths to adjust rear height. adjustable dogbones are nice and easy and cheap to make/buy.
remember changing the rear height without also changing the front means you are changing rake and trail. 1inch up on the rear or 1inch down in front equals 2 degrees on the rake. generally most bikes don't go lower than 23.5 before becoming too unstable... stock is 25d.

Yep they're about 3".
So where can I get my hands on some adjustable dog bones? Also when you raise the rear, where do you measure? For sure the front needs to be done before the rear. The stock shock isn't so bad. The stock spring rate is actually what Race Tech recommends for my weight. I would just like something with ride height adjustability and better valves. It seems to fade (not sure if thats the right word) a little at the end of a stint. |

Yeah that's all fine and well with modern equipment and suspension, not to mention hand making the turn so this can be done.
Like many things on 2 wheels, someone did it long ago and on lesser equipment! I mean dude couldn't even afford brakes! |

Is the rear suspension compressed as much as it looks in that bottom picture with the black/gray bike or is it just an angle kinda thing?
it just looks odd in the picture, not sure why it would be so compressed in that instance (just going off the what can be seen in the picture)

Its pretty compressed, The grey bike is not mine and would be sprung a little firmer if it was, Also that picture is from motorsport ranch in Houston that has bumps all over it so undersprung and likely hitting a bump is why the rear is so low in that shot.

I think you guys are doing it wrong. This is lean angle!!!
On a serious note, with everything stock, does anyone know what gets dragged first on the new gen 250 or the 300? I'm assuming it's footpegs? Once the feelers touch down, how much more lean does one generally have? I'm a conservative rider and I'm just afraid that I'll freak out if, one day, something drags....and I abruptly snap the throttle shut. That would be a bad day during mid corner on the street? So, let me just put this out here....if something starts dragging and I'm mid corner and I need to maintain the same line (if not, I'll either run out of road or cross the double yellow), what should I do? Do I roll off gently? Or do I just keep the throttle in the position and keep the same lean angle? |

I can only speed for a 250 as I haven't ridden a 300 hard enough to get it low. On a stock 250 Peg feelers (remove) Pegs Exhaust Side stand If you got the talent and the stones... you can ride through the feels, folding pegs and some of the exhaust and light touches of the sidestand. Once the sidestand or exhaust starts to drag really really hard... you best start thinking about standing it up or lowsiding. On a race prepped 250 Side stand (remove) Side stand tab (cut off) Rearsets After that... depends on your bikes aftermarket mods #1 rule of getting a 250 low... DO NOT drag the side stand or side stand mount tab. You're playing with fire when draggin' that. As Rexbo posted early in this thread, once you get really, really low, the 250 is a rite scary machine to ride. The frame flexes, the head chatters, and you get all other kinds of strange feedback from the bike. Sure it looks cool to nearly drag an elbow on a 250, but.... caution should be advised at those lean angles!!!!

The reason I ask is because I ride pretty conservatively and never dragged anything.
It's just that, in the future, if I'm ever in a situation where I went in a corner too hot (street) and the feelers dragged, I'll know I can keep that lean angle to complete the turn. So....my 2nd question: if the feelers do touch down while I'm mid corner, do I hold the throttle position the way it is? Or should I roll off gently? What can I do with the throttle to either maintain my line (or better yet....tighten my line)? |

if you're going to maintain your line, then, maintenance throttle and gently roll on as you make your way through the corner.
If you're going to tighten your line, then, you can roll off as you've suggested, or you can correct the line with a little front brake. |
