"Steels"? Definition anyone?..
I doubt this is even worth making a thread for, but I can't find anything on Google or the forums here.
I was speaking with a rep at the local Kawasaki store, regarding ordering tires, and she mentioned the new tires did or didn't come with "steels." I've ordered a set of BT-45 tires online (all about saving that money haha)and All Balls steering and front wheel bearings. I'll be taking my 250 and the tires to have them mounted and balanced. But I wanted to make sure I ordered everything I needed. What did she mean by "steels?" Thanks guys. |

Steel belts? I have never heard the word used in exactly that way before.

I was thinking along the lines of Misfit Tim. But maybe she was referring to steel wheel balancing weights? (No more lead weights in Washington).

I was also thinking wheel weights for balancing.... I'm curious though, why didn't you ask her what she meant by "steels"?

I've rebuilt my carbs and done other work, but I learn as I go, sort-of-speak. Since I haven't messed with my wheels or bearings until now, I figured it was lingo for something I didn't know yet. TL;DR: I was too lazy to ask. But now I'm curious, as I order my stuff. haha |

They were lead. No longer allowed to be lead, at least here in CA. The new ones are some sort of steel.

Using weed for wheel weights seems a bit of a waste anyway.

I don't think so, because the way she talked about "steels" it sounded like they could be ordered separately.
Honestly, another reason I didn't ask, is because I thought she meant the front axle or nut/s. Haha you guys have a couple of days. Place bets nowww. TRUE STORY. Perhaps. See my first quote in this reply though. Also, I swear she used the word in plural form. |
