Shoei photochromatic shield
Isn't the Shoei photochromatic shield supposed to be out, like now? It doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

I believe it is out, just out of stock...
Might be the model helmet you got too... Edit: nvm I searched for photochormatic and still got me to the spectra versions (which I think is just their mirrored). |

I have one in my wish list at revzilla, but it says preorder only. When I clicked it, it said it had been removed from inventory. I wonder what happened? I want one!

Don't quote me on this, but I think I heard that the initial batch of shields (from earlier this year?) didn't meet spec for some reason. I don't think any actually made it out into the hands of the public.
I've heard no reason why it's taking so long to recover. Surprised it hasn't happened yet. I believe that Shoei still intends to offer them, but nothing yet. As of right now this is vaporware.

So... Sent an email to Shoei on this. the response i got is "Unfortunately we will not be producing a Photochromatic shield for the RF-1100.". I dont know if they will still make one for any newer helmets but apparently i'm f***ed.
Now if you go on ebay you can find a "Light Reactive Pinlock Insert". Not the same but may be an option. Still bummed out. Maybe a third party company will make one?

The Shoei rep at the motorcycle show said they plan on it but no word from Japan on when.

Hope so. I'm not going to wait much longer though. I may just try that insert. Found a handful that will ship to me from the UK.

Shoei Transitions Shield, it is now available. You're welcome. Edit: Damn, it says it's out of stock. I'm sure it will be available soon if you contact STG. |

I've been checking with my Shoei rep every chance I get, and the best answer he can really give me is "it should be available within the next month or so". I really don't want to but a smoke shield and then turn right around and get the new one, but for the price, I might be waiting a minute anyway. Either way, there hasn't been enough sun here lately to justify anything but a clear shield. Yuck!

I just checked again yesterday, and it does appear to be available now, but only for the rf-1200. I can't imagine why it isn't available for the Qwest and X-Twelve though. That's the one that was supposed to be out first, but it almost seems as if they scrapped it.

I ordered one for my RF-1200 over the phone from road rider in SJ.
It's on sale to boot (15% off). They're having a sale on helmets. http://roadridermca.com/ Last futzed with by algs26; May 27th, 2015 at 08:22 PM. Reason: added image |
