Went down last Sunday
Hi all,
So last Sunday I was riding my fz-09 and I was coming out of a mountain area. I was in the last turn before entering residential, and I ended up on the other side of the road in gravel. I don't remember everything that happened before or after the accident. I had a raccoon run out in front of me. I don't know if you can drive slow enough to protect yourself from kamikaze raccoons. I didn't go to the hospital. My neck is still a little stiff. I'm missing a bit of skin on my hip. The fz-09 has scratches everywhere and the front is bent up. I have full coverage comprehensive/collision on the fz-09 but am waiting to hear back from the shop. They told me it was probably totaled. I will be selling my 2013 Ninja 300 (and probably my fz-09) to help pay for an FZ-07. |

Crash your already too fast for you bike, next step get a bigger bike.
Sorry if that came off as a little sarcastic, but damn man, should prob stick with the 300 for a while. Glad you're somewhat ok, I would have that neck checked out still though. I got into a minor rear ender couple years back, seemed like it was nothing, just a little stiff neck. Few days later my neck froze up in place and had shooting pain down my arm, ended up being that I had crushed a disc between my c5 and c6 vertebra. Still have daily issues with it and have to do daily traction at home. Hasn't stopped me from riding, but now have constant headaches. Stay safe out there, animals are a bitch sometimes and come out of nowhere. |

Hope you heal up soon, and glad you weren't more seriously injured.
Haven't hit any wildlife yet, but figured small stuff, like a squirrel, wouldn't be too bad if I couldn't avoid it. Not sure about something as large as a raccoon. |

Little known fact, bikes can ride straight over 'coons and be fine. The rule of thumb is "if it can be eaten in one sitting, you can ride over it." If it happens mid-corner just straighten up and brake a bit as necessary. Good luck with the fz7, I've been fairly interested in that bike myself as it feels like the new sv650. Great price deal for a great middleweight bike.
