Video: Criticise my ride
Hi guys, here's a video I recorded during my ride today on my Ninja 250. I'm looking for critique, comments on how I can improve my ride and overall comments.
I'm still new to riding so I admit I do stupid mistakes sometimes. As you can see some roads in Malta are not that good. Looking forward! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuRdVxvYP4I Last futzed with by basementmt; March 19th, 2015 at 02:00 PM. |

You drove on the wrong side of the road the whole time.
Seems dangerous.

In Malta we drive on the left hand side like the UK and Australia mate, the only time I've ridden on the fast lane (right) is when I knew beforehand that the left hand side is very bumpy.

put on some boots.
aside from that, mostly minor stuff.... i think people should cover their front brake. having your fingers already there means you can eliminate the time it takes to move them there when you need to brake. clutch isn't as important but i always cover it also. the benefit of covering the front brake is that you can use it to stabilize your throttle positioning so bumps and things dont make you vvroom it up. just make sure you let the throttle off before braking. @1:23: crossing intersections is where you crash. look both ways. don't be messing with your helmet then. deal with your helmet when you aren't in danger. be alert and ready to make emergency actions when going through a crossing. @1:40ish dont be so close to parked cars when you have tons of space to move away from them. they have a way of jumping out. people also hide between them and jump out when you dont expect it. people are dumb. @2:00 ish... i dont like to stop in the middle of the lane in case someone blows through inattentively, i try to get as far to the side as possible just in case @2:30... you're looking the wrong way. the car is to your left and nobody can come from your right based on the view from the few seconds before. @2:50ish... opposing car passing into your lane... give him a lot more space. it seems you didn't react at all to this. @3:15 - avoid potholes. sometimes they are much larger than they seem. so just avoid them all together. if it looks different, it probably is different. mostly minor stuff aside from GET SOME BOOTS.

All helpful stuff from Alex, on these types of threads I don't like to focus on the negative so much but also point out the good.
What did you think you did well?

I think shifting was good most of the time and road positioning was not bad. Overall pretty decent ride I would say. |

you got any local tracks? you would be amazed at what just one day does for your skills and ... i dont want to say confidence with the bike, but a much stronger understanding of the limits of the bike.

Excellent and great question! How do you know if you have set a good entry speed or not?
