Thanks ya'lls!
She is not ex police, just has the well known police K9 colors and the demeanor that enjoys being trained. She is only 2ish years old give or take a month of so. I got her from an older couple that wanted a "guard dog" at home but she was more than they could handle with their other smaller pets. They also kept her weight in check so she didn't get bigger than they could handle. There are actually many very GOOD benefits to keeping a dog "slightly" underweight but don't let the pic fool you... that is Jade, my 12yr old daughter sitting behind her in the pic. For contrast, the dog is 90lbs and plenty tall. I plan to put some muscle weight on her but keep her just around 115lbs unless something changes. Now the doors thing... I am NOT wanting her to figure that out. My house dogs will be outside and my outside cats will be inside. lol Nor do I want claw marks on the cars just in case she thinks she can get those open too. But we are thinking she is going to figure it out on her own without training and we are going to have to teach her to not do that. When we got her, she would already sit and shake hands but that is about it. It took us about 3h to train her to not jump up on people, but she has a lot of training to go. At my house, there is A LOT that needs to be associated with "NO". So that is where we are at.

Daughter's day at the track!
Of course pic was taken at the local Steak & Shake, but that didn't stop the mandatory pose. I will let ya'lls guess which one is my daughter.

I would be updating this thread right now, but I am getting ready to head back to the track. When I get back, I should a nice post about my last 2 weeks. 6 days at Mid-Ohio and last trip to KY Speedway to see the Quaker State 400, which was a crash fest the first half and somebody decided to burn down their truck in the parking lot in the second half. lol You know something is bad when there is more smoke coming from the parking lot, than what is coming from the track.
And then there was this... hahahahahahaha Sorry, but that water doesn't look very sanitary at all.

Quote:
Mark's first track day A rider by the name of Mark unloaded his bike from the U Haul trailer as I was working tech. I noticed him because he almost dropped the bike while unloading it. He was very nervous but at the same time very determined. Obviously, your first day at the track should be in the N group, if nothing else to learn track procedures and for a right proper schooling on what the TRUE definition of fast is. But that is for another thread... Day 1: Mark's day started of pretty good after getting unloaded and settled in his garage. After all, he was planning on being at the track for 2 days. He passed tech without much fuss and a bit of extra tape here and there and all was well. I was assigned to the N group his first day but worked subgroup #4 until the end of day where everyone was allowed to ride free and open. That is when Mark and I first seen each other on track in passing. He was very, very slow but putting in the work to get better so I didn't think much of it. After all, mid-o has trained riders in the parking lot before, but it's far from ideal. Day 2: I am assigned to the N group and Mark put himself in my group. The day started off kinda shaky, especially going down the back straight @25mph with other groups going by at 100 but we managed. After a day of intense coaching (and riding), he finally started to progress well. But then.... a sprinkle feel from the sky and all his nerves came back. From my point of view it was literally nothing to be concerned with. Just a drop or two, but the damage was already done. We go out for the final session of the day. After a iffy warm up lap, I put him him front of me and he does well for 2 laps and we begin the 3rd. He takes the back straight at 84mph and the flagger is showing the rain flag. And then... after braking and completing turn 7, he goes down with 0 lean angle. For the life of me I still can't figure it out. I was following him with about 3 bike lengths between us but from all the things I was looking at; bouncing back and forth between, the next corner, where we were, ensuring I was blocking incoming traffic behind, bla bla bla AND the odd spot to crash for no good reason, it took me by surprise. I hit the brakes.... HARD. I would presume the corner worker seen a nice stoppie before my front locked up. Actually, I wish I hit the brakes like that while lapping, but that also for another thread. We were traveling around 45mph when he hit the tarmac and I just couldn't scrub the speed fast enough. While I didn't "just lay it down", I did purposefully turn the bars to full lock which did toss me straight to the surface. If I hadn't done that, he surely would have been a speedbump for me and my bike. My shoulder hit HIM first and then the rest of me come down with a pretty good thud and we slid for a bit, but not much. I open my eyes to only see the gray of the track surface and hearing Mark say "I am sorry, I am sorry." After telling him to get off the track and hearing a bike go by on my left, I crawl to the grass and just lay down. After a ambulance ride x2, we get back to the paddock to find we are both mostly ok and I am in a sling. After everyone loads my stuff for me, I get an offer from a new friend to drive me home. I didn't need it, but letting people do nice things makes the world a better place. Mark was also taken care of well. Other track riders helped load his stuff and he was good to drive home no problems. After a couple of handshakes and plenty of thank you's, we settled on it was a great day and I told him "have a safe trip home and hope to see him again." Update: Mark did come back! And he did great! I wasn't his coach this go round though, but I did put in a lap or two with him. We chatted on and off all day as I ask how his day was going. He was far less nervous this time around and it showed in every way, from his presence in the paddock to how he rode. He brought his son this time too, so maybe that had a bit to do with things. You know how I feel about support systems, ya know. Anyway... wanted to give an update. +16 new hands shaken

After next weekend I will have some time to work on my track r6 vs riding it. lol I know that sounds weird but seriously it needs some love... Here are the plans because my bike looks like it's been rode hard and put away wet lol.
1. finish safety wiring everything 2. clean everything! 3. check torque on everything 4. delete midpipe and install power commander/with custom map 5. new set of fat man power cups 6. get number plates #511 of course Bonus... new fairings and paint, here is something close to the end goal, although the swingarm will be black.

So... did you ever wonder how hard A riders are on their equipment? Well, here you go. fyi, this one lasted less than a year. I am no longer a vortex sprocket guy at least for the aluminum ones. I have a vortex steel one on now, hopefully it lasts more than a season. In case you lost count, that is 14 teeth broken.

agreed, aluminum is meant more for racing and to be swapped out very quickly while steel is better for everything else

I wasn't expecting it to last as long as steel yo's, just longer than 34 track days, but I guess not. Anyway, the steel one is on and I will definately post up when it is done. # of track days, races, whatever else I do, with full disclosure.

No more EBC HH brakes for me...
Those are cooked.... And of course I found out on track at a 110mph. Now I have to buy the full on race pads at a higher price. If you grid up with AMA pro racers and throw down, you will need a little something more than EBC HH. Heat cracks, pits, blueing and all other colors of the rainbow. hahahahahah

So last week I meet a fellow by the name of Scott and had only been riding 2 months. He arrives at the track to hang out and ride in the N group for the day. I was given the day off by track management (rare for me!!!!) but comes at a great time because I needed to bed in new brakes.
So it begins... Scott, Drew and myself are all sitting in the chairs in the morning waiting on the day's events to start. It was awesome for me, no working tech, no business to get ready to ride, just relaxing and enjoying everyone's company and helping friends get ready. Drew is an A rider so nothing for me to do there, but Scott is fresh and green and headed to his first N group meeting with his coach. He put himself in the slowest subgroup of N (he is a smart fellow) and they ride the first session no big deal and he comes back all smiles. While his session was going, I test ride my bike around the paddock to get a feel for who is there and to ensure my brake work is solid. Fast forward to the 2nd session... I decide to go out in novice to get some heat in the brakes and bed them in a bit more before heading out in A to put in some laps with Drew. So I fall in line behind Scott at the tail. After all, customers first ya know. First lap was clean but on the second lap, Scott goes down in the grass at the exit of turn 7. He does exactly what is expect of him and the session finishes as normal. I saw it all... start to finish. So back in the paddock, the crash truck brings his bike back and we unload. Given clearance from medical, Scott arrives back in the paddock kinda unsure of himself. We have already assessed the bike damage and the only real showstopper is a bent brake lever. He as rider is fine aside of a slight gear burn on his arm that he said doesn't bother him a bit. So I put on my coach hat and begin doing what I need. We chat for about 10 mins about what I saw and he relates that to how he felt at the time. He learns some things, I learn some things and he rests while I try to find his coach to have a word. His coach tells me that his pace doesn't match with the rest of the group and to talk with the novice lead for the day. The novice lead tells me that there is no slower groups so he will have to stay where he is at unless I wanted to take him solo. So I did... We started by me asking if he felt like finishing the day, followed by what makes you uncomfortable? His list was long but I focused on the big 3; 1. Trusting my tires - Built faith in them via the throttle 2. Turning - Build faith in steering via skill and visual skill/Line building 3. Lean angle - Knowing your job as the rider is to KEEP THE BIKE STABLE goes a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG way. Scott rode the rest of the day cleanly, and with as much confidence as he could muster. Over the course of the day, he came a long way and left with no new scratches on the bike and a huge smile. Once again, he kept apologizing for me taking my "day off" to ride slow with him instead of going out in A with Drew. It was an awesome day for Scott (and me too).
