@Dredgshadow nice cbr, love the repsol paint scheme. The '03-'06 636 and the cbr600rr are my favorite japanese sports bikes (cbr1000rr a close 3rd)
I also agree with state farm, they're who I use for my insurance though I have the potential to cut my payments in half by switching to rider insurance if I ever run into any problems or get a supersport |

I think I revved first over 12K once. You can go 60 in first but who wants to other than drag racing. Now in second that's fun, on the track.

Even if it is possible to go WOT in first without breaking the speed limit on a 600, there are still other ways that can be breaking the law. I'd always use on ramps or highway stoplights as excuses to let my F4i rip through first gear, but often times I'd be breaking the law in other ways such as getting the front wheel off the ground or probably breaking some sort of noise law. The only time I ever wished for more power was when I was neck and neck with an RC51 coming out of a turn at the track, then he started to pull no matter how hard I yanked the throttle and encouraged my bike to go faster lol.
SOMEONE JUST HAD TO START THIS ARGUMENT DIDN'T THEY. Can't we all just respect that we ride what we ride for our own reasons. If you want to go cross country loaded two up on a 250 good for you, if you want a 1000cc almost racebike to commute on equally good for you. |

Just for reference. I don't feel like zx6r is in the power band until I'm going around 60+. Sure it's still quick, but you can't be wot without breaking the limit.
Back to topic. Really sexy Honda, very very jelly. Now you just have to get rid of that ugly plastic on the back, and relocate the exhaust

Sure that helps a smidge, but changing the gearing 10% doesn't materially change that point. At peak power, the bike is still going at very high speeds from 2nd gear on up.

True, I ride a "street-tuned" 600cc I4, so my power band is a little lower, plus I have shorter than stock gearing. It makes my power very usable. |

I totally agree with what everyone is saying about how far in the rpm range you can take this beast without breaking the law. However, there are other things a SS bike can do some amazingly well other than acceleration from a straight stop. I live in East TN and am blessed with some of the best riding roads in the world. The handling and pure feel through the turns is really great to say the least. And in those turns a 7k pull to 9k really shifts the weight and the acceleration feels great. The bike doesn't need to be topped out and ran through it's gears to 140 to have a lot of fun. It's nice to know there is more on tap but still be pulling really hard.

You hit the nail right on the head, we're all sitting here arguing about straight line power, I hate it when that's all people focus on lol. Proper sports bikes with a good chassis and the right riding position really do ride like a dream through the twisties, in the environment they are meant for not a straight line.

Straight line speed isn't why you buy a 600cc, but maybe a 1000cc. Anyways I already touched on this point on page one.

600's are girls bikes, period! It better be a long straight because everyone knows a 1000 can't turn. That's why they don't race them (I think)! Well if they do they are never the fastest (I think)! Repsol Honda is one of the best looking bikes. Too bad they don't make a Repsol 600.

Race a 636. I want to know if the rr stands up well. It lacks hp but I know they're lighter.

The 600RR has been pretty much the same mechanically since 07, minus a few tweaks here and there with the tuning and engine set up. A race between 600s is going to be a riders race anyways, especially bikes coming out of the same generation. That extra midrange oomph one has or the extra 5 hp at 13k the other has or whatever really aren't going to matter much
