Now that looks really nice! Good job on the modification. Does it sound different than the stock 250 can? Deeper? Louder? Quieter? Etc.?

Its not much louder. if any. my wife agreed and saif it was slightly louder. about the same tone though. mostly just looks better i think. although i do detect a little popping on fecell. that could be because the exhaust gasket was reused it might be letting a little fresh air in the system. but i am happy overall. nothing performance minded but a good cheap farkle!!

I ended up riding for almost 2 hours in full leather gear today for "lunch", including 2 trips to the bank (walk-up ATM), my ex-wife's house and my parent's body shop.

Rode it for the first time in over a week. The seating position felt crazy after only riding the sm and dirtbike for the past 10 days.

Yep! One of my many side projects until I get my motor issue resolved! Tossed around the idea of making a dual sport too

I found the the pieces of metal of the drum shifter washer that my shifter claw chewed off in the oil screen. That thing is a gift of engineering!

which idea? The dual sport? my motor issue I never got around to diagnosing yet, or me messing up the shifter drum install?

I was just thinking about swapping out the front suspension and rear suspension.

My motor, probably timing is off since no chain stretch. Wiseco has not gotten back to me about if there is anything wrong with the build of the pistons, and the shifter drum changer was misaligned when I was tightening the bolt holding it in place to the drum.

Fixed the speedometer over the weekend and now the 250R is back in business. I now remember how awesome this thing is when it approaches redline and the 60 MPG I can squeeze out of it.

Aside from fairings, it rides perfectly fine.

Aired up the tires and rode the 250 to work today. I'd been riding the 500 for the last couple of weeks, so the 250 felt totally different. Everything is easier and looser. Brakes, steering, throttle, gearbox. Much less effort required to work any of them. It's kinda nice, actually.

I noticed that the 250 dumps A LOT more heat on your legs than the 500 does sitting in traffic. Anyone know why? Shape of the fairings? More aggressive cooling fan?

I noticed that my left calf gets pretty toasty once I started riding the 250R again.

Well, technically last night:

*Swapped out rusty leaky tank for a less-rusty, non-leaking tank.
*Swapped filler caps so my key still fits.
*took apart, cleaned, and rebuilt petcock with all new rubber parts
*scrounged up some 1/4" OD teflon tubing to replace missing main/reserve straws (kicking myself for not taking a picture)
*installed tank+ put a gallon of gas in, only to see it dribbling out around the petcock lever
*Rigged up a little catch can where the gas leaking out drained into a gas can (left out overnight cause it was like 10:00)

This morning:
*found my gas can full of water due to rain last night
*jumped on Ninjette to discover that the spring washer in the petcock doesn't go next to the little 4-hole rubber thing, it goes between the cover and the lever
*Bought insurance for it, $126 a year is a freaking steal!!!

Tomorrow:
*arguing with the lady at the county clerk's office over how much I paid for this thing when I got it in baskets a year and a half ago (AKA getting the 2fiddy some tags )

Replaced clutch lever pivot bolt that I may or may not have cross-threaded and destroyed. oops.

Then tested it with a nice 2 hour ride around Red Top Mountain and to the Vortex for a nice big victory bacon cheeseburger.

Same thing I did yesterday, took it out of my garage, so I can get into my car, back out the car, put the bike back in garage, close the door and drive my car to work...

Because it's going to be 100+ degree for the rest of the week, and it's only 4 miles away. I do plan to do some fun riding early morning over the weekend. And hopefully in a few weeks the weather gets cooler.

Replaced the license plate light after going to a few stores looking for an R5W or equivilent and then rode 45 minutes to go play in the mountains. But discovered that, as I went to get gas, I had no wallet.

Note to self: when putting wallet into inside pocket be sure that it's the inside pocket of the jacket and not the liner that is going to be left at the house.

Safety wired the rear seat locking mechanism so that it unlocks with the key again

Spent way too much time replacing the chain and sprockets. I wasn't sent the rivet master link like I ordered, but I really wanted to get rid of the POS chain I had on. Although the front sprocket is relatively new, I didn't want to take any chances since the chain was really that ******. I have never been so grateful that my dad hoards tools that he doesn't use; I finally put that brand new, still in the box air compressor and impact gun he had to use. Cut open my finger pretty good on the worn rear sprocket.

While I was struggling with removing the front sprocket bolt, I realized that my rear brake had no brake fluid at all in the reservoir so I bled the rear brake too.

**** that all took longer than expected.

This is how all my maintenance goes, everything usually takes 2x the amount of time it should take.

However, I've broken/riveted enough chains and swapped enough sprockets so that I can breeze through it.

learned my abs works, learned that my brakes suck, and then ran a stop sign at 80~ across a busy expressway missing two cars by only a few feet...then stared at it for 5 minutes or so in the parking lot of a church that was half a mile down the road before going to work

Test drove it up and down Rosevale/ Ocean ave.

There's a really nice turn that lets me get close to my knees or at least look impressively agile on the turn. Today was weird though. I suppose I felt a bit more relaxed -- still alert but not as nervous as my first couple of rides following the accident. To add to that, I felt more "one" with the bike. Riding today felt like...I was born with the motorcycle.

It was very odd. I liked it. But I definitely would've preferred to have my front assembly on while zooming up and down that road.

Changed oil filter and oil, lubricated clutch cable, changed out brake lines to steel braided ones, adjusted chain and now waiting for new clutch and brake levers to get here to replace them.

Soon as I pull it off you can have it, no charge, has a little scuff on the end from my bike getting kicked over by neighborhood brats.

Drilled my first holes ever while installing the Race Tech Gold Valve emulator kit with new springs sprung for my weight. Got one fork done tonight, going to do the other fork tomorrow evening. Little by little, she's getting tracked out.
