Previous owner said "anything other than amsoil and it will make weird noises"

I recently got this bike, I went for it, because it was really cheap and it seems to be in very good condition and I'm a beginner.

So I'm thinking about changing oil and oil filter, but then I remembered I heard the previous owner saying to use amsoil, and I also noticed it has excess oil, don't know how much, can't tell since it goes I'd say at least 2cm above the oil level window.

Should I heed his recommendation/warning and get amsoil oil only?

Bike has 22,000 miles and well, I'm wondering...

The bike starts smoothly and idles well in about 20 seconds, I have nothing to compare with, but it feels strong, I'm 300lbs and I can very easily accelerate well beyond my ability to control, so I'm not worried about carbs right now.

I've seen that Rotella t6 is one of the most liked oils for the ninjettes, and I think I'll give it a try and pay good attention to how the engine sounds afterwards.

Thanks!

Id be more worry about having to much oil then what oil you are using.

Some people are goofy like that. Run whatever oil you want as long as it meets specs, your choice not anyone else's. And yea, proper levels only.

That's almost as good as the guy that says "only use shell (or whatever brand) gas or the motor will blow".
Not saying that some oils aren't better then others but as long as you use the rite weight and type you should be good. My boyfriend has Amsoil in his bike rite now and i have Rotella T in mine.

Got it, oil brand is not that important as long as it's changed regularly and levels are proper... makes sense...

THANKS!
