Starting to think I jumped the gun.

Both the girlie and I just got used ninjettes for about 3k apiece off craigslist. I figured prices would go up as the season sets in. Hers is a 2011 with 880 miles. Mine is a 2010 with something like 2600 miles. This is now my third bike and I wouldn't be opposed to a 600 or 750. Now a couple weeks after I bought it, I'm seeing beauties up such as this '05 GSXR 750 for 3.6k! What have I done??

Deals on Japanese supersports are a dime a dozen. I say don't worry about it until you're seriously looking for one.

GSXR is close to 10yrs old, sure it may look good on the outside and price may seem right but you never know what you are getting with something like that until you start digging into it. Replacing bearings, seals, gaskets and other small bits and pieces can add up quick and gets annoying.

You've only had it a couple of weeks and with only 2600 miles on it the engine isn't even really broken in yet.

Go ride the snot out of it for a few months. Take it on a road trip this weekend. If you still feel it's too small or too slow, Craigslist is full of good deals on 600-750s.

Get a few track days under your belt on the 250. You won't be regretting anything when you're wringing the throttle around corners and passing the bigger cc's through the twisties.

Grats on the bikes and don't worry about the other bike. When you're ready there will be another deal.

Oh, and lets see some pics!

Thanks for the cheer up guys. I certainly don't doubt I'm riding a good bike. I guess I was just worried I spent too much. I know engine size is one of the biggest factors on price.

Soon, we're waiting for hers to come back from the lowering job. Can't wait to get a good shot of them side by side!

I don't think you over payed at all. 250's usually hold their value, also keep in mind that Gixxer is almost 10 years old and has 25k..

You realize that's only 2500 miles/year right?

I wasn't saying it in comparison to how much it was ridden per year, just that it does have 25k and it's a 05 which is an older bike.

I had similar thoughts about a month ago so I asked myself, "am I really using this 250 close enough to its limits to think it is boring?" This led to me really getting to the twisties, and man is this thing fun. I do still want a 600 one day, maybe even this year, but I suggest riding the heck outta yours while you have it. Something tells me that I will miss it like crazy when it is gone.

On the other side of the coin, I've been riding open bikes for 20 years, and find myself drawn to the lighter weight and smaller size of a 250 for everyday use. Don't be in a hurry to go big, get good on a 250, then move up.
Just my 2c.

I appreciate the pennies, but my last bike was an 09* Ninjette and I had an old beater 750 prior to that.

As has been said, you didn't over pay. A 600 or 750 is not a Ninja 250. You're not even comparing apples to oranges, that's apples to rockets.

I have both and they are great machines in very different ways. Everyone should own a Ninja 250, they can do everything and they're tons of fun. Not to mention rr's are quite uncomfortable off the track.

I hope that doesn't sound condescending, you've had other bikes so I'm not saying anything you don't know! Those ninjas are awesome, appreciate them.
