Friday here.

The floor plan shows that they've moved it back to the main hall. Last year it was at the south end of the Javits center, and all the custom stuff was in the dark.

REALLY hoping that they'll have some of the more interesting new bikes on display... RC390, Yamaha R3 and R1 in particular.

Planning on getting there by 1, but with traffic you never know. I like to do the show thoroughly and will be there for quite a while. There are several new bikes I want to get a close look at, plus there are a few bits and bobs I'll be buying.

Last year they had one of Lorenzo's GP bikes sitting right out where you could literally touch it. Well worth spending time with that if they do it again.

ask him why he never went over to motogp. He rode once and got 7th on a satellite yamaha bike so he could have made it there, though he wouldn't have dominated like he has in the ama.

Photos incoming

Uploading a few now.

Show had plenty for the gearhead. Lots of VERY COOL race bikes (a current-year Rossi MotoGP bike... I figure these are probably the development bikes that get set on tour; they're certainly the real deal), Josh Hayes' bike, etc. RC390 is there in both street and ADAC trim. Ninja H2 and H2R are there. New Yamaha R1 and R1M. Yamaha R3.

The R3 is impressive. it looks and feels like a real sportbike. Very similar size and weight to the Ninjette. Actual clip-ons, which are located above the triple.

The RC390 is cool. Feels tall, especially the stiffer race version, but very light and compact. Narrow. Tall people need not apply... I'm 5'7" and in a tuck my butt was right up against the tail. They had both the race and street versions there. One bizarre thing: On the race version, the heel plates are bendy plastic. I went to hang off and felt my heel move. Don't know if this could be a safety issue or not, but it seemed a bit Mickey-Mouse to me. Clip-ons aren't real... they're part of the top triple.

American sport-tour company Motus showed up. Very nice, if you've got 30 grand. What I really like about these guys is that they're thinking outside the box. Pushrod V4, kind of like a mini small-block Chevy. The motor makes 180 hp. Being a sport tour bike, it's very heavy. But I can see how it'd be nice and comfy.

Lots of VERY COOL race machinery on display, and none of it is isolated from the public. I love that.

Kawi brought a quiver full of Ninja H2s... the Transformer-tastic (and ugly as sin) H2R as well as the street version, plus an unclothed one and cutaway engines. I fail to see the point.

New Yamaha R1 is a tech tour-de-force. Front end looks just fine in person. Cool bike.

And just for fun, Suzuki had a bike just like mine propped up for photo ops. The new livery looks really good in person, BTW.

It was a good show, busier than i expected for a friday. Always good to see you Andy. The only dissappointment was aprilia not being there, and surprisingly i changed what i want for a track bike. I was set on the new 636, but the panigale 899 fit me better. THe point of the H2 is simply that they could, and i liked it.

I just wish they gave out more stuff, posters, anything.

I got a really cool poster at the Triumph booth... one of their old-school twins with a retro race fairing at Bonneville.

Good point about Aprilia. MV Agusta was also absent.

I was hoping EBR would make it.

I forgot my damn phone!!!!!

Still got some cool shot with the mans.

Got my share of drooling over the H2R and H2. I love them any.

Entered to win the Grom.

Hows my body position??

there was a small battle raging in my head over this bike. My love of Nightmare Before Christmas and my disdain of hayabusas...

Got to sit on the new Indian scout. I think i really like it, felt good. May try to go test ride one. The scrambler was nice too.

Andy, What was the seat height like on the RC390? Really cant wait to see it in person. I think that will be the wifes replacement for her Ninja 250.

Terri, Great pics they really did a great job with the paint work. Why do you hate the Busa? Not my thing and i dont like stretched bikes but the stock bike is pretty nice.

Jay, are you really getting a 899? I really debated getting one and even set up a test ride but figured it would not have enough benefits over the other 2 ducs i already have. There is a good used one at the dealer near my house with only 200 miles on it and they are willing to work on the price to move it quickly. Best of luck and i cant wait to ride with you (if you get it or not) again this summer!

a panigale 899 is not in my immediate future, even with my new raise at work. I now have a wedding to plan and pay a ring off at the same time. I do however plan on getting the Honda 250L dual sport this feb, i can at least fit that into the budget.

Maybe it will be a wedding present to myself...hopefully by then i can pick up a good used one for around 10

Congrats on getting married, Has been so great for the wife and I so far with a bright future ahead. You should announce this in a thread and ask members to add $$$$ to an 899 fund as wedding gifts. Could work, I am in for $10! I nearly had my 748 done and found a big issue so she is in a million pieces again. That is why I was considering trading both the 999 and 748 towards an 899-----But i totally am in love with the 999 and the 748 (as much of a problem it has been) owes me next to nothing so why start making payments when I have 2 good bikes already. Best of luck and congratulations on the wedding and I hope your budget covers trips to Palmer and Thompson in 2015. I live 1/2 way between both tracks so if you (and the new wife) need a place to crash while doing a weekend at the track---you are welcome here.

I have a friend who just bought a house in sturbridge so i have a spot to crash but thanks Ant! Ill be getting a membership for next year, no worries. I originally wanted the new zx6, but on my test ride i felt slightly cramped (way more comfortable than the 250 though). I still planned on the 636 since it felt great when on pace, but sitting on the 899 just felt right. Its gotten a lot of good reviews, so a couple years tracking the 250 and ill step up to a bigger track bike and let the 250 relax after that haha.

I love that superduke too, thats like 95% of the reason i went to the show.

Also, were not married yet Just engaged. When we went out to cali i rented a BMW and we drove all around. I proposed in Napa Valley and she had no choice but to say yes. Otherwise i would have left her ass on the side of the road! HAHa

They look like an evil alien spaceship with a tumor on the tail (when the solo cowl is on). Gets worse when they are stretched as that tail just doesn't complement doing that IMO.

I know they have a huge following, i just don't like them.

RC feels taller than the Ninjette, but narrower and lighter. Race version was DEFINITELY taller... most likely due to stiffer suspension.

Look for them in dealers in March/April.

I really liked the Yamaha R3. It gives the Ninjette some serious competition.

Yeah, I liked it... felt compact and manageable.

Upright/naked bikes aren't really my thing at the moment. I've gotten so used to the sportbike riding position that they feel funny to me.

I can see something like that being a great commuter bike, though. My favorite in that genre is the R Nine T.
