Rear wheel "bounce" after new tire mounted

Hey all,

This is a problem that I've been having since last year, when I had a local shop mount tires I purchased online. I thought I was being cost-conscious and getting a good deal on both the tires and mounting, but I've had nothing but trouble since.

I never brought the wheel back to the shop because I thought I was just misaligning the wheel or doing something wrong on my own. Now, I wonder if the tire itself is bad, but it is far too late to return it.

Here is a video depicting the problem, look at the top of the tire and you can see the problem I'm having!

Call the retailer and have them look at video. Maybe if they look they can take care of you and they will get good feedback here at the forum, esp since it was documented here wheat ago as being defective.

check to see if the bead is seated properly, can't tell from video, but there should be a "line" or "ridge" at the rim lip on the tire, it should have a consistent distance around the tire, if not the bead is not seated properly/damaged/broken.

The bead appeared to be seated correctly when I checked earlier today.

I may try and email the video to customer service at Kenda and see what they say could be the issue, if that's a thing they do.

Something's clearly wrong with the tire. Perhaps it was a mounting problem, but I'd put my money on a faulty tire from the get go.

I was afraid of that. I've contacted Kenda through email and sent a link to the video. Hopefully we can get this fixed.

That would explain why nothing I did seemed to cure the issue, though!

While racing, dunlop has mounted out of round tires on my bike a total of 3 times in 7 years so its not unheard of.

Did you try applying plasti dip to the other half of the tire to build up the thickness so it all the same height?

if the straight line performance is that bad then the bounce/chatter going into a corner could be dangerous.

Kenda contacted me back overnight and gave me a warranty form to fill out. After submitting that, the rep said that she will forward my video and claim to the tech department for review.

That is good news, is kenda a website store? not their fault you got a bum tire, or that you did not contact them for a whole year too. It is a good sign that they not brush you off though.

Warranty form asks for "GVWR, GWF, and GWR information" which is supposedly located on the VIN plate. Anyone know this information for me? I'm not nearby my ninja and may not be for a while.
