New From Long Island!

Hey Everyone,

As per the suggestion of csmith, I am introducing myself! (Maybe I'm just not polite, as it didn't dawn on me to do this before I started invading someones thread and spewing out questions :P )

Name is Mike, I live in eastern Long Island in Suffolk county, just got started on street riding. Have a bit of previous riding experience with dirt bike and trail riding around some of the great trails we have out here in the pine barrens on my old 88' Kawasaki KX250, which has definitely helped my jump right on to my new toy, a candy plasma blue 09' Kawasaki Ninja 250R!

The bike was previously owned by a girl who lived just a town over in Riverhead and was always garage kept and had 7100 miles on it at the time when I bought it. The only modifications to the bike she had made were a set of frame sliders , fender eliminator kit, smoked zero gravity windscreen (stock size not double bubble or anything), lowering links, and a big pink fancy "A" sticker on the front (I had a few laughs as I watched my buddy take the bike home for me through town sporting the big lovely A on the front).

I brought the bike back to stock height as I'm tall, about 5'11" and the ninja already is a pretty low bike. And, alas, removed the big pink A sticker. Thinking about getting a bigger windscreen but still debating the comfort level Vs looks argument in my head. Also thinking about getting a different eliminator kit as my buddy thinks that the tail light with integrated turn signals isn't very visible and could be a hazard.

As for myself, I got my riding permit a few months ago, now I'm, just waiting for the MSA courses to start up near my in the spring so I can take that and get my full license!

Already have gotten a warm welcome feeling from the few I've encountered on here so far, and am looking forward to hearing from the rest of you!

Thanks man! Glad you think so.

The ninja actually feels a bit slower than that old KX250 haha. Must be the 2 stroke engine on that dirt bike that makes it feel that way.

Either way, the ninja 250 is nice and low to the ground and has very manageable power from what I've gathered so far. Kind of wanted a 300 for the extra power, but didn't want to have to pay the larger $$ amount coupled with dealer fees and all that crap. Figure I'll upgrade to a 650 or something else after a season or two if I start to get bored on this anyway.

Hoping for the best!

You could always sell it back to a girl, if you kept the pink A.

I could've definitely listed it as a bonus, provided her name started with an A haha. Otherwise I'd have to say it just was an A for awesome

Unfortunately I couldn't get it off without it ripping in a few places. They'll just have to stick on a new one themselves! :P
