Youtube Squids

Ran across this YouTube channel today

https://www.youtube.com/user/BrenTuning/videos

Apparently it's for a tuning shop out of Charlton, MA.

http://www.brentuning.com

Anyways, I just thought it was nuts the type of vids they're making out on public streets and then linking back all of their contact information.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Do people who do **** like this ever get busted? or is it pretty much fair game to post whatever you want on YouTube? It just really kind of pisses me off. It's nuts that a real business is blatantly breaking the law and posting about it. Gives all of us responsible motorcyclists a bad name.

Yeah, that is kinda silly. Sometimes I just don't think about things like this because "it's not fair" doesn't get anyone anywhere.

On the other hand, dat launch tho... dang son. I'm pretty impressed with the whole secondary limiter for launches thing. Cars, bikes, all cool.

Yeah, that bike is bad ass!

It's just annoying because the guys obviously have access to a drag strip to demo these things. Instead, they think it's cool to do it on the streets. In the second video it clearly states 60 mph and dude does 184 mph. In the first video he doesn't even bother hiding his plate.

Dunno. I don't personally think I'd make it part of my business model, but that's just me...

I'm not butt hurt, I actually enjoy the videos.

I'm just curious if there's ever any legal consequences? I've always made sure I don't post incriminating evidence on YouTubes!

Launch control? Dang we can't even go in a straight line without an electronic aid anymore. Stupid.

But you have to admit: from a control system standpoint, that's really badass. It hurts me as a purist. But it's cool!!!! Pop clutch and it does the rest for you to make consistently perfect launches every time.

The launch control is cool, but I've read that it isn't fastest.

Supposedly the launch control is super consistent, but it's still faster to do it yourself.
@Jono, yup run ways and drag strip. Pretty legit stuff, that's why it seems strange to me that they would post the road videos, seems like they should know better.

I thought those bikes had a faster top end. My 06 GSXR is faster! I'm truly disappointed.

Sure, I'd assume it is. But that requires skill. launch control will be faster than most of us. It takes some practice to get one good launch, much less repeated good launches.

@thisisbenji Yeah, it is a bit odd cause around here at least, I don't see any squids on the S1000RR.

Pshhhh.... I bet I can launch as fast as launch control. Welp, on my 600 anyways. I bet on the S1000RR the real helper is that wheelie control rather than launch control.

Same here, usually they can't afford the S1000RR. Mostly older guys.

That being said, there was a guy who crashed his S1000RR on i94 here in Chicago this summer. He killed his passenger and hit a light pole so hard he got split in two. I unfortunately saw the photos on my Facebook.

Ehhhh... From attempting to replicate Kawi's suggested 5.75 second 0-60 time for the pregen, I can assure you it's not as easy as it looks. I only got down to 6.25 seconds and I'm a light guy at 130 lb.

Yeah, that definitely is a part of the equation. Ignition gets cut based on a whole series of parameters including wheel spin, wheelie angle, throttle input, blah blah blah blah. It's not a one-variable system. That took a team of very smart people at BMW a long time to perfect. It's impressive how well it works and I'd hazard a guess that when put to use in this application, it's faster and more consistent than the vast majority of riders. It's really hard for an average Joe Schmoe to be consistently perfect on launches. It's also hard on your clutch.
