Welcome Mitch!

I personally would pass on it myself but it's your call if you can get him down to a good price point. Just for comparison, I tipped a fellow rider in Cincinnati area for a clean 2010 with zero damage for 2k. I hope you can find a similar deal, it's that time of year ya know.

It would be best to not get an r6 first.

I Personally Have BOTH so i KNOW how crazy it would have been for me to get an R6 as a first bike.

I'm not saying that you won't/can't handle the r6, I am however saying that your skills will develop much better and faster if you start on a 250.

Also I've had the ninja 250 for two years now, and even though I have an R6 now, I still love to ride my ninja equally!

You have to be honest with yourself about your riding. Don't fall into the upgrade in 6 months trap. Do what you think is right for you.

[blunt honesty]
When I want to go really really fast, I get on my R6. When I want to get really technical with my riding, I get the keys to the 250. Why? Because it allows me to focus on ME instead of the bike.

I'm pretty sure that's a 2010, not 2011. But it doesn't really matter:/

That's a great deal if the dealer does not add all the BS fees on top of the price!! $2999.00 + TTL is what you should shoot for

The first one that has been down is not a 2011, the other poster was correct, and for the little bit extra go for the one at the dealer.

If you buy the used one for $2500.00 the tax savings vs buying new for $2999.00 is in my opinion shouldn't be a deal breaker!! What's the difference with ur tax rate? Remember you are still going to pay tax on the used bike when you reg it!!

FYI: The 2008 through to the 2012 ninjettes are functionally identical. The only things that have changed over those 5 years are:
* colour scheme options for the fairings
* the dash background colour (went from black to white)
* the exhaust colour (went from all-metal to being painted black)

... so: the used 2012 for 3300$ is definitely a worse deal than the unused 2011 at 2999$

I bet your excited about getting your first bike! Such a nice feeling. When you hand over the cash and you've got this beautiful 2 wheeled machine that's all yours: it's a nice feeling! You wont regret getting a ninjette. I've had mine more than a year and am still in love with it!

One more thing OP. Please be sure you did all the math beforehand. Bikes cost A LOT MORE than just the price of the bike. You need to make sure you can afford it.

For example, although my bike cost me $1300, I paid for than twice that in less than a month when I got it.

Bike: $1300
Registration: $80 (trololol)
Insurance: $600
Gear: $400
Oil change/hose adjustments: $90
Carb cleaning/flooded engine: :$300
Petcock rebuild: $55
Gas: $20
Accessories: $40
This month's total: ~$3000
