So its gonna rain tomorrow...
Been riding for a few weeks. Got about 500 miles in. There should be some light rain tomorrow morning, and today was the end of the dry spell, so if driver's ed taught me anything its that the roads are slick.
I usually ride to work on my bike, about 5 miles there and back with light traffic. I've never riden in the rain. Ride or drive? Bike will be parked outside too if it means anything. I don't know much about leaving bikes out in the rain.

I rode home for the first time in the rain, about 20 miles with 15 of them on the freeway. Windy as ****, too. Made it home fine as I was always aware of reduced traction due to the weather so I wasn't throwing the bike around as I usually do.
If you don't mind getting soaked and are confident enough, then go for it. I'd take the car if you have any doubts about your riding ability. |

I just got in from my first forced rain ride. It's not that bad. As long as you know how to take your turns and know your and your bike's limitations in the weather, you'll be fine. If you doubt your ability to ride though, don't chance it. Take the car and ease yourself into riding in weather.
A few points: - If you end up having to ride at night in the rain, don't keep a smoked or dark tinted face shield. Switch to the clear one. Luckily I had my clear one in my backpack from an all day outing when I knew I would be riding home at night earlier this week. - Wear thick pants or leathers if you got 'em, your knees will thank you if it's too cold or raining alot. - Take it easy on the puddles on the streets, I took a turn into the gas station to grab a snack before heading home and made a bigger splash than I intended. The bottom of my pants were soaked before really hitting the road. - Do not have to pee while riding in the rain. It sucks. Especially when everything is closed. - If you have it, rain-x your face shield. Or use something that has the same effect. - And lastly, enjoy it! I personally enjoy the cold ( I think I messed up my internal thermometer in Iraq) and really enjoyed the ride with the rain and thankfully, almost non existant traffic.

So yeah....I think you should ride and I think you'll be fine but if you don't feel comfortable enough, then drive.
I work with . -.-

Iv'e been riding for about 4 years now and I never ride when it rains. Can't trust LA drivers and I don't see the point of getting soak on the way to work.
