Got a '13 636...

So I decided to trade in the Honda CBR1000RR for a new 636 this weekend. Great decision.

Just got home with her after a 250+ mile ride back, more pictures and a better review coming soon after I settle in.

I got the regular non-ABS model, kawi green.

I'm still in the break in period (first 600 miles) so I haven't gotten it past 10k rpm's but I'm very impressed with the low end and mid range power. Feels a lot more suitable for street use than the literbike did. I found the Honda to be a lot more comfortable but this is infinitely more sexy.

If anyone has any questions about this bike just ask

250 miles? What dealer did you go to, that looks like the one in Fort Pierce. Also congrats! I'm planning to get the white one with ABS as soon as I get a better job. Should be happening within the next few months.

P.S. Don't be afraid to open it up. Break in guidelines are set to keep the rider and dealer safe. Take it up and down Indian River drive a few times and you'll be broken in, in no time .

It was the Ft. Pierce dealer, I live in Orlando now for school so I did some riding down there with a couple friends that day then rode back up here.

I've gotten to open it up a little bit but don't like speeding around town especially not on Indian River Drive, got to speed a little bit on the northern part of the island on my way home from the dealership.

I liked the Ft. Pierce dealer a lot more than FL Sports on Indian Street in Stuart, they were more straight up with me and didn't try to gouge me.

I got it for $9800 out the door after tax, tag, title etc. (negotiated that before telling them I had a trade in) Sticker on it was $11,700, I think the ABS model's msrp was $12,700.

They have the non ABS online as $9,499 at that dealer and the ABS model at $10,499. That's with all the discounts already applied though that you can get I believe. So I'd say at 9.8 OTD you got a great deal. I talked to everyone in that dealership a few times. Once just to look at bikes and once while I had to get a flat repaired and they are all great people. FL Sports definitely charges a arm and a leg for anything and the Fort Pierce dealer told me any price FL Sports offers me they'll beat it so that's definitely where I'll be purchasing mine as well .

Yea I was pretty happy with that deal I also got them to throw in the 5 year warranty (usually ~$600). Went back and forth between them and FL Sports, BS'd a little bit and said that FL offered to match their first price of 10400 OTD and they said they'd go to 9800 and throw in the warranty so I obliged happily on the spot.

Haha, nothing wrong with a little white lie when they're still making a profit and you're riding off with a sweet new bike .

Seeing all these ZX6R's being bought by you guys is making me excited, I actually got the dealer to give me more for my trade then they were offering. I feel like I'm winning with a salesman for once.

I have a request, can you post up a picture of a close up of the headlights when it isn't on?

Any of you guys put frame sliders, engine covers, or tank pads yet? I ordered the kawi oem tank pads. Haven't put them on yet as it's so cold. The back of tank one looks cool. They are semi transparent. Not sure about the side ones though.

Thanks - got $5K for the Honda. Very fair - it looked great and ran great but had 27K miles and that scares a lot of people away.

Nice, I really want to pick one of these up some day (though I'm keeping Saturn even if I do :P), how does insurance compare to the 250? I hear the 636 is a bear of a premium jump.

I put framesliders on the day mine came home, already saved her on one tip over in an off-kilter slick driveway. (Ugh) Engine covers and stomp grip to come next.

It's a stupid huge jump for the insurance. As much as I love my 636 I would have put more consideration into it had I known the extent. We were paying $160/mo for a '10 250 and an '04 Daytona 675. Adding the 636 is an extra $240/mo....

I have stomp grips and it works well for me.

27k isn't anything to worry about if you know the bikes history.

And the price is right.
