Dumbest mods you've seen?
I work with a guy and we both got our ninjas at the same time. I started doing mods and then he would some and it went back and forth trying to make our bike superior to each other. But I went to work the other day and he blacked out his stock taillight. ( Yeah so he made himself less visible than he already is). Then he also decided he doesn't need mirrors, so he just took those off. And then to top it off, this guy took off his turn off signals. Just cut them off.
What are dumb things you've seen people to do their bike? I like blacked out tailights, but only on my car. Doing it to your bike is plain stupid. Plus your light is always on so you can't even tell it's blacked out once the bike i on, accept your light is dimmer. |

Dumbest mod I saw was a young kid stickering up his gixxer with car stuff. He had the following stickers:
Zoom Zoom Yokohama Auto Meter (and some other ones) I remember looking at it and he came by and he just ask me with his "swagger" saying "You like my bike?!?" I said laughing "Yeah, but its got the wrong tattoos on it."

Whenever I see a car with blacked out tail lights I rear end them since they are automatically at fault.
Dumbest mod, slip ons

The worst mod I have ever seen are the spiked bar ends. Just way too risky in an accident to impale yourself. Still see them all the time.

tinted headlight lens...... a coworker bought a pos r6 with tinted headlight and tailights. Also the whole bike is painted black with a rattle can, and when I say the whole bike I mean the whole bike: brakes, forks, frame, fairings, brake reservoir, chain, swing arm, windscreen... you get the idea.

I count anything done for "badassedness" that has no legitimate function.
Obscenely loud slip-ons fitted ONLY to make the bike loud (i.e. no tuning) Spike hardware of any kind (windshield bolts, for example) "Pig spotter" mirrors Swingarm stretch/fat rear tire Under-cowl LEDs Blue headlight bulbs Angel-eye/demon-eye headlights Chromed-out/polished-out parts on a sport bike I'll also throw one in that is controversial since a lot of people actually like it: Spraying the whole bike with truck bed liner.

Hmmm, I quite like the halo on my bike. I'm wiring it as my DRL because I want to cut power usage a bit. My pregen doesn't quite make enough Watt's to support the EFI kit and all the sensors at idle.
I promise I didn't just do it because it looks cool, I did it for a reason! Frankly I shouldn't even use it because I wonder how visible it will really be during the day time. It's bright buuuutttt idk. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/pictu...pictureid=9775 http://www.ninjette.org/forums/pictu...pictureid=9767 not sure why it looks blue in the second one. |

There's a local kid with a blue 250 (if he reads this: FIX YOUR BIKE!) who took a rattle can to bits of the bike making it white. The worst of it was he put GSXR stickers all over it.

I think its a useful and practical mod. It helps catch your passenger between the tyre and the undertail when they fall off (reference: the video posted a couple of days ago) LOL
Honestly, extended swingarms are terrible for street bikes. This mod should be only allowed on drag bikes where it would serve some purpose |

I have no idea where to begin!!!
It all began that one day...... "flashback effects" (brace yourselves!) when I saw a 150 cc motorbike with 'Hayabusa 1300RR' sticker on it. Then i saw a vespa with an actual chair as the rear pillion seat. Then I saw a single Cylinder 135cc bike with twin large exhaust pipes. Then an Enfeild bullet with antennas and these huge car yellow fog lamps. His bike probably had its own satellite too. who knows. Then I saw another 150 that had (according to the decals on it ) Bilstein, K&N, Pirelli, Brembo parts and some other similar decals (couldn't remember em all ) WITH TURBO INTERCOOLER!!!! imagine that! But the worst one i've seen is not a motorbike at all. I was a small maroon suzuki wagon with SEVEN antennas and gazillion vent stickers with a mercedes benz logo at the front and chrome linings everywhere.

I saw a BMW with a big Harley Davidson sticker on the back window the other day. It wasn't some pos either, but a nice newer 3-series. It was a nice car but that ruined it.

Integrated tail lights. Yeah they're sexy but most of them don't work all that well.. I've seen some where instead of a turn signal the whole thing flashes weirdly and you can't tell wtf they're doing. PO threw one in with my bike but needless to say it isn't getting installed lol, it's smoked too and I wouldn't trust it's brightness at all. I may get a clear alternatives one but with keeping visible turn signals on the back with it..
You guys sure do seem to hate slip ons. Sorry I like my bike to sound decent and not like a freaking hair dryer. Of course those stupid "motogp" or whatever tiny little practically straight pipe things are a different story. Obnoxiously loud and they usually don't even have a clean sound to them. |

No it's not. I posted a pic here a few months ago of such a beast and a surprising number of people had not only heard of it, they liked the idea.
I've since seen a bedliner job in person. It looks nice... ... from 30 feet away. But then, a Krylon rattle can job looks good from that distance too. Up close, not so much.

I just did a search for it... and I guess I could see it, but when you originally mentioned it I was picturing the really rough spray-on stuff. I've also recently discovered the Plasti-dip trend, and am more impressed than I'd like to admit.

I don't like excess stickers on my bike. I have the OE stickers, and a couple extra "Ninja" and "250R" vinyls. I also have "ninjette.org" vinyls on my chin fairing. Other than that, totally clean. I can't stand the racer boy sponsors look.
