Diesel fuel is even cheaper, and available in any size you want. Just go to a gas station that sells it with a pickle jar, and you've got a multi-year supply.

Of course, my bike has carbs (not fuel injection) and that would make any changes more noticeable. But, I'm guessing that at 14,000ft, the difference in performance might be noticeable. Was it?
To me? No there wasn't any noticeable change due to altitude. I did feel her slow down as I climbed but I was on a mountain road that was angled up so I attributed it to the grade vs the elevation. Same with being down below sea level, no obvious change in power. I may be lucky and have a bike adjusted for that sweet spot of moderate performance at any altitude or I'm just not familiar enough with an engine to recognize when she's gasping for air.

Like, reports say that the pregen adjusted for San Diego was having problems above 14k enough the rider was wondering if he'd have to push it.

Bought mine last night, rode it home 25 miles in a driving rainstorm. So, not much of a 1st impression yet. Got a 2010 Blue Ninja 250, 21000 miles, got 2 nearly new helmets, a new mesh jacket, and a pair of gloves......$900.00. Did I do OK? Quite a big difference from my ZRX1200R, or my VFR800 Interceptor. Sure is light rolling it around the garage!

900 for a 2010!?!?!? Wow.... Aside from the high mileage, was there any damage or poor condition on the bike itself? That's a steal!

I am always seriously leery of used helmets. Never know how the previous owner cared for them or if they were ever dropped (and if so, from what height and onto what surface).

But even so, nice job!!

It had been dropped, in the driveway on both sides, but other than a scratch or 3 its not too bad, no dents, no cracks. Got it from a young woman, who at some point lost the rear brakes (daddy was a harley rider, go figure). So she takes it to a local dealer, who not only removed the master cylinder and what was left of the pads, (got it all in a bag). Anyway, they told her she needed everything new, caliper, disc, master cylinder, etc. and quoted her so high that she decieded to cut her losses. A real STEALERSHIP. But I was the lucky 1st guy there, so I snapped it up. Is 21,000 miles alot on these 250"s? I've heard thier bulletproof, but, this is my 1st 1. BTW, I ride my scoots, my 2001 ZRX has 43,000 miles and my Viffer 25,000 miles. When I picked it up last night the PO was agast that I was going to ride it with NO rear brakes, I looked at her and said "I don't use the rear brakes". Her Daddy and her looked at me real funny.....
I'll post a picture just as soon as I get it cleaned up, I DID ride it home in a real toad strangler. The helmets look brand new, no scatches or dings, and the faceshields look unmarked. The jacket is an extra small so maybe one of my 7 grandkids can wear it, but the helmets and gloves fit my wife to a T. All in all I'm quite pleased. Probably will clean, tune, repair the brakes, and turn it, I'm restoring a 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador, so I'll use the coin for that project. That one may go on the block when it's finished as well...at least I'll sell it if the price is right.

You got a good deal. I don't think 24k is a lot on these bikes, I've got 24k. Maintenance is the key to a long life.

I always use kerosene.

If I remember correctly, kerosene is a large component of WD-40 anyway.

Got the motor mostly assembled. Going to reuse the clutch and stator cover gaskets. Hoping to get it turned over within a week or so. I need to rewire ignition.

On my "new" 2006, battery box mod, pulled the carbs for a going thru, adjusted the valves after building a tool to adjust the valves, oil and filter, new plugs, and pulled the wheels off pending arrival of my new Sport Demons, pulled the left handlebar tube off, (old one was tweaked) pending arrival of a new one.

I did my battery box mod with the air box in place by using a hacksaw blade and some patience. Took 20 minutes and came out very well.

There is no visible gook in the bowls, but I am going to pull the carbs apart and go thru them carefully, and hopefully take a nice ride on Sunday.

New tires and handlebar tube came in today. Took the tires and wheels to my local tire shop for the swap. Pulled the carbs apart. The pilot jet in the left carb was plugged up, but the carbs were not all gooked up. Put all the jets in my ultrasonic cleaner, Blew out the passages in the carbs, cleaned the jets, reassembled, and put the carbs back in the bike (easy peasy with the battery box mod).

Hopefully tomorrow I put it rollimg again on the Sport Demons, and go play this weekend!

Motor mounted up to the frame. I wonder if the stock needles are sufficient with rejet.

Do you want it to be form fitting or just something to hold the pipe? Cus I'm thinking you can use one of those....Damn idk what they're called but its those bands that get tighter as you turn the included screw on it. I'm sure they make ones/ you can possibly mod one so that it can b screwed on to the passenger peg of your bike.

Had a HS kid in one of those new dodge challengers jokingly ask if I was selling my ninjette, told him I'd trade him his car for it.

Doubt that metal box would be as fun as riding a motorcycle though. Don't care how much it pulls me back into my seat.

I believe you're referring to a hose clamp.

Rotated the rear shock spring tension adjuster to the highest (tightest) position. It came on the lowest position, and the rearend was mushy. Now its tight and springy (inder-damped for my weight, i think).

unintentionally popped a wheelie at 111 indicated mph...
summary of how it happened. Back road, riding as fast as possible taking several turns full throttle 6th gear wishing for more power, there is a straightaway with a valley that you drive down then up. the valley is steep as hell and there are bumps on the way up, crested it at 111 indicated mph got air time, landed rear wheel first still full throttle, gravity takes effect on me and slams my balls into the tank (still hurts an hour later Q_Q) which then brings the front back down as I slide back into my seat and continue on my back country ride.

So you didn't do a wheelie, you jumped and landed on the rear wheel, smashing your boys in the process.

Smooth.

Dropped idle from an outstanding 4K to 1.5K.

Did another inspection on the gas tank I purchased.

Buying five gallons of vinegar.

Yes, it has minor rusting. Fml.

well the front wheel stayed up for a few seconds after I hit the tank, so let me just call it a wheelie xD but seriously, you're right that it wasn't a true wheelie.

We might as well use the vinegar after it's bath in the tank. The rust should give it a nice metallic zest.

Took Yuna out today in this gorgeous NY weather. I'm supposed to pick up 2 qt. of motorcycle oil but I got lazy.

Will be filling and sanding down the abs cement on the side fairings soon.

Got it all back together and rode it home from work via the twisty route. The carbs work perfectly. Holds a nice steady 1.5K idle. The Pirellis made a world of difference, The new handlebar tube put the front end right.

I also cleaned and lubed the chain, and checked to see if I could buff out the belt buckle marks on the tank. Sadly no, so the tank gets a guard tomorrow to cover up the scratches, and I am getting a tank bag.

I am pleased with the bike, and plan for some mods. Mirror delete/bar end mirrors. Taillight mod. (I have a set of very high output LED bulbs and the sockets). Tail tidy. Flush mount turn signals.

I only rode it about 35 miles today. Tomorrow, I plan on heat cycling the tires and pushing it a little harder. It tracks turns precisely without any wierdness. The suspension is on the soft side, but the ride is actually pretty good.

Overall, I am pleased at how it works, and am glad I added it to my stable.

fixed it
warning to 300 owners:
the foot gear shift will not bend as easily as the 250 shifter. The mount plate may brake off like mine did and others have, posted on other forums.

Attempted to do my own oil change for the first time. Scared....

Drained everything and replaced the filter: Success!

Snapped the Koso drain plug in half when replacing it. Damn!

Drove two hours to go fetch the original stock plug.

Got everything tightened up and new oil poured in. Yay!!

Now I have to figure out what to do with the Koso wire I get a new plug in....

Oil change an recall yesterday on the 300, nice riding before the rain today. Fixed and got my nieces doodle bug started, need to work on the tune a bit, or cram a better engine in it

Your first oil change but you're doing a Koso gauge install presumably?
