Most folks remove the flames... I like em, but that's not my bike. I would imagine you wouldn't lose money.

Seeing as there are thousands of pregens out there in all sorts of stock and custom paint schemes, I would imagine that the only value you would lose is aesthetic. For the buyers who want the stock flames you may lose out but you will gain those who like the clean look of a solid black.

It's personal preference, I actually like the silly flame and tribal decals. But for the right price, good maintenance record, and clean looking bike, it wouldn't be a factor in my purchase decision.

If you do remove them, and the next owner decides they want them, Kawi and numerous aftermarket places sell the decals.

Lose 'em. The bike will look better and may actually increase in value.

The flames slow your bike down. You need to take them off.

I don't mind the silver flames on the blue or red bikes, but I don't like these red ones on the black paint. Take them off!

As long as you don't sell it to a dealer, you shouldn't lose money out of it.

I'd remove them if I was you.

I'm trying not to think about re-sale value of my ninjette. I just want to think about its current value to me!

Mask everything off but the flames and paint over the flames with matte black. That way you still have them but you'll almost have to look for them. I think it'd look pretty good

If you take them off, you risk having a shadow where the paint under the sticker hasn't been UV damaged.

Ah good point.

IMO that would still look better though. He'd have a very understated black flame shadow instead of 90s in-your-face flames.

Personally, I'd remove them.

But, Josh makes a good point about colour. Does anybody know about this and can provide advice to James in terms of fading of the plastics?

Shouldn't be a different color underneath. You'll probably have some dirt collected around the edges of the sickers since they've been on so long.

Peel them off and give the bike a good wash then just clay the remaining residue and it should clean right up.

What do you mean by "clay" the remaining residue? Curious.

Put on blue flames, they are much hotter.

Lots of companies sell detail clay, in kits even with a detail spray. Easy to use and removes contaminants from paint. The mothers kit is good if you can get it there. Comes with everything you need.

clay products do work great, just wash the bike well and use a good cleaning spray.
