New owner, first time rider

Hey guys. Im a new rider and just got my new 2012 Ninja 250 in candy lime green. So far so good. I'll soon be looking to do some mods and upgrades. Mostly for looks so I'll be seeking some help and ideas from my fellow riders.

Welcome!!! Ideas: 1) Chop off that ugly stock rear wheel mudguard (or get a fender eliminator.) 2) Rear seat cowl. 3) Tinted windscreen. 4) LED lights to match your cool new bike. 5) New exhaust like yoshimura or two brothers.

I got 3 out of 5. Getting my LED lights on Thursday and thinking of getting the two brothers exhaust later this year.

Definitely should be #1. It seems like most drops/tip-overs/accidents happen within a few weeks of buying a new bike. My stupid, embarrassing tip-over happened on the 3rd day of riding my new bike, because I backed up on an uneven surface and did not hold my front break. I'm only 5'4" and 120 lbs, I lost my footing, the bike started rolling back too fast and I grabbed the front break while the handlebars were turned. I had a slow and painful tip-over... Luckily nobody was looking and my sliders absorbed the impact.

Now I wear shoes with a thicker sole and always hold my front break when backing up.

Oh and I HATED that fender. That thing was HUGE for no reason.

The ONLY downside on removing that fender is that your back might get wet when you ride through puddles. Doesn't matter much if its raining, you will get wet anyway.

lol the fender eliminator Ive yet to install has been my first purchase for the bike other then gear. Next will be frame sliders.... Previous owner already dropped it and ****ed up the RH fairing so I need to fix that to... plus some jackass keyed the **** out of it making stupid designs in the paint (no it wont buff out)... so I will probably respray it soon as well..

Thats what I get for buying used but it was cheaper then most pregens so im not gonna complain to much

So to the OP... get frame sliders so you dont end up having to sell it so cheap like the guy I bought it from

Welcome & congratz on a nice first bike!

My recommendation on first mods;

1. All your gear
2. MSF or similar course
3. whatever else you like
