Angry I want to rip someone's throat out with my teeth! !

Came out to bike tonight to find that someone had cracked the clear plastic cover on my speedometer gauge. It's about half an inch long and goes all the way through. Now if any moisture, which there is plenty of here, gets in the gauge cluster, it is going to **** my **** up! Anyone know how to go about temporarily gluing this crack or something until I can replace it?

Post a photo of it if you can.

Using Super Glue will make it cloudy, so I wouldn't use that. Some type of clear caulk or sealer would be a better choice.

Dirtbags.

I would use either clear nail polish or clear epoxy.

I didn't know if one of those car window crack fixes would work, with the uv sensitive epoxy and syringe

That might be a good choice. Could take more than one coat, but I would think it would seal it up temporarily.

Going to ask wife right now if she has any. Wouldn't have thought of this, thank you all. Will post after the fix

If that is in the center of the lens then i think you'll be ok with it as long as it does not expand more than that little bit.
The chance of getting moister in that tiny crack is negligible and wouldn't be of much concern, but if it grows to be longer than the 1/2" it is now then you'll want to do something.

Not the prettiest thing to look at, but just one coat should do it. Hope it holds for a while until I can find a new piece

Clear lamination paper will keep the water out and be semi permanent.

I cant imagine somone went out and decided to break your speedo cover.

maybe it was a defect? was the ignition messed with?
Usually when you deface stuff you go all the way.

You could use a pour able resin or just pull your cluster and replace the lenz

"Hey, dude. I saw this bike, and I made a small crack on the speedometer. So now, when the air gets all moist, it'll mess up his instruments hahahaha!"

"Oh man, that's great! You're the ultimate prankster!"

Yeah, I doubt that conversation happened. Klondike's got a point. It really could have been anything. Maybe a bird flew overhead and dropped something and it happened to land on your speedo, maybe an acorn fell down from a tree onto it, or maybe a piece of space debris from an overhead satellite hit it.

Just FYI, ninja 300s some are having problems with the clear plastic spontaneously cracking on the cluster. This might not be malice, but failed stressed plastic.

Clear packing tape would probably work well to.

my bike is in a covered porch area and I am probably not liked by many people at work. I am a Loss Prevention Manager, I have sent many associates to jail, and of course there are no camera's outside. There was no defect. I have had the bike since it had zero miles.

odds of an acorn or space debris hitting it: 1/100,000,000,000,000,000
odds of disgruntled employee punching it: 1/5

hmmmmmm.........

Clear Vinyl would be a nearly permanent fix. Replace every couple of years if stored in the sun, 5 or more if stored inside

@LNasty - most disgruntled people I know. start with the mirrors, move on to keying the paint, usually finish by knocking it over or stuffing gun in the key holes.

Tire slashin is also popular.

There is no satisfaction to be had from a 1.5 inch crack. If people are looking for retribution its sorta like a snickers commercial.

They need that "More Satisfying Crunch"

I dont know the circumstances. But parking around cameras should certainly be a priority from here on out. Even though its a pain in the butt to get footage these days.

Good luck, it could always be worse.

I agree with you, just not sure how else it got there. when I parked the bike in the morning I would have seen it. The covered area where I park it is also fenced in and padlocked. You can get into the area from inside the store. As far as cameras go, I control all aspects of the camera system. the entire hub of the system is in my office, so I guess its time to run some cable and try to wire another one up out there.

This is why I always cover my bike when I go somewhere for longer than 10 minutes. Buy a cheap cover at walmart for $20 it'll do the trick.

wasn't until our first kid came around, then yeah my hopes and dreams went out the window. Haven't been able to get a farkle for the bike in quite a while. Unless I can provide an explanation on how it would be something that made me safer, then I get "the look". I tried the, "I worked for the money, then I should be able to spend as I see fit" excuse, but that did not end well.

Man, this is why I would heavily consider getting prenup. Also if I was married my bank account would be seperate, I'd have bills to pay and as long as I get them paid and have an agreed amount of money going towards retirement, etc (whatever we decided on) then the extra money I have would be my business.

clearly must be swimming in women swooning over you trying to get into a relationship... what a hassle it must be having to push away so many women all the time.

You will also stay single with this mind set.

My hubby and I share one account for 80% of all our earnings. The rest goes to our car payments. He wanted a bike, I said awesome, then when I bought 3 in 3 yrs he didn't care. When he needs gear, I help pay for it. when I need stuff he helps. Its a loving and trusting relationship. You give you get. He works hard and so do I. Bills are always first and the kid is always considered, she has needs too.
If you find the right girl you won't need to worry about your money and what you can have. everything should be shared between both regardless of who earns/owns/wants what. You will want to make her happy and she should want you to be happy too. If not run away very fast.
But you are still to young to worry about all this, have fun and when the right one comes along you will have even more fun.

You know what Alex, it never hurts be smart. We live a very dynamic universe where anything can change, I never had a relationship where the girl was ever 50/50 with me on anything, and I've been through heart break more than enough times to know that one day everything is great and then suddenly things change. Marriage has a 50% failure rate... I am not to the type of person to risk all my money for something that has a 50% failure rate.

Go ahead, insult me all you want for the decisions that I make. I really don't think highly enough of you to really care either way.
