The swingarm has been my 'object of interest' as well lately in terms of weight reduction.

Frame is light, fairings are light, battery is heavy for it's size, but helps to stabilize an-already-very-light-bike-and-short-wheelbase-for-it's-size...

That dang swing arm... How can we find a lighter one? Carbon fiber -- too expensive. Aluminum -- probably not strong enough. Dangit that heavy swing arm is the terd in the punch bowl in terms of weight reduction..

If anyone has any clever ideas, don't hesitate..

Lightbulb Look elsewhere

The stock swingarm is as bare bones as it comes. Thin wall square tubing on a pivot and suspension mounts strong enough for the job. There are other areas where it would be easier to lose the weight for a lot less money than a custom arm.

I have an arm at my shop. I will be going there today. If I can find my scale, Ill weigh it.

not sure how easy swing arm swaps are on the n250, it's like opening bag of worms. Any decent swing arm will be made to take a larger wheel and tire so you will have to either create spacers to keep current wheel or just use bigger. With that comes maybe having to get a different front sprocket to keep the chain in line IDK?

either way, the Fz6 swingers are very popular for smaller bike swing arm swaps as it is not a very wide one at the pivot so it can be fairly easily made to fit.

First gen swingam is ten pounds

Second gen swingam is about twelve pounds.

I extended my swingam four inches to make room for stuff and the bike feels great. 140 tire fits great.

^^ are you offering it up for sale?

I've also been running a 140 rear tire on the oem 09' swing arm with no clearance issues.

Did the ZZR250 come with an aluminum swinger to match the frame? It was a 17in rear wheel so if so that would seem like a good potential swap.

Ok fine! I will spill the beans on what I got. Its a zx600r 1992 swinger. I bought the front and rear suspensions/wheels. I want twin front discs and the rear is 3 inch wide. Only going to run 16 inch wheel, I am fine with that- just going for looks.

That looks familiar. I fit a first gen SV650 wheel and tire in the old ninja 600 swinger.

Does anyone know the weight on the ZZR 250 one, or if it even works?
