Check out all the DIYs and pick and choose what you like. Since kkim is now retired, I'm sure he might consider flying to the states to help you out. Of course, if you don't like how he does them, please send me the bike and I will give it a good home!

jason - paint your exhaust black, black out your windscreen, remove your stickers, eliminate rear fender, get rimstripes, seat cowl - that's how the bike should have come from the factory - from there it's up to you.
check out my photoshops for some ideas...... |

Craig and a couple others on the forum have a bit of an acerbic sense of humor. For him, attractive rider likely = topless supermodel.
Only thing I'd suggest offhand is a 15-tooth front sprocket, which isn't really a cosmetic mod.

fender elimination, shimming the carb needles.

Buy yourself GOOD GEAR first, also make sure you have your motorcycle endorsement!!!
then the cosmo mods and mechanical mods are last, but IMO as far as the stuff making the bike faster and louder.... it just costs much more and in the end your lil 250R wont be any closer to being as fast as a 500cc-600cc bike. Dont be one of those guys, I bought my bike knowing its never gonna be faster largely then what the stock currently is. "I want the look of a wide 180 tire". type of guys, then you shouldve bought a 600 that comes stock with a 180-190 rear tire. hmmm what else is there... My bike is stock and i like it that way. spending $2,000 more on mods... I would rather have spent the extra money and gotten a overstocked ZZR-600 Ninja (2008) in Black at K&W for that price! oh and Welcome to the Site broham! |

The stock ninja was sold as a beginner bike with more comfortable ego's and a mild temperament, but doing some small mods can focus it more for your specific tastes and riding style.

I agree don't try to make your bike into a 600 or whatever its not, but mod it to suit you. I did some graphics, a MGP exhaust, led lights, DIY fender, Short stock turn signals in the front, painted my wind screen. just make it your own if you like, or just leave it stock if you like.

Flush mount blinkers are a must. Not for looks, but because if you drop your bike at a stand still, the blinker stalks can (and probably will) end up punching big fat holes into your fairings. And yeah, they look cool too. But not visible for squat from the front.
And if you do much freeway riding, and don't like always being in full tuck, I would advise the touring wind screen. It cuts the wind buffeting WAY down as long as you stay under 80mph. A cheapy little after market helmet lock is handy too. As using the cowl helmet lock is kinda iffy security wise, and that back seat, at least for me, is a pain to get back on. Widening your side mirrors and/or putting on convex mirrors is a big help too. Just lets you see what's in your blind spot before you change lanes into it. Other popular mods around here are to shim the needles, chop the rear fender, install a integrated tail light/blinkers, and install a bolt on, or full exhaust system (and then re-adjust carbs). Oh, and don't forget to post about how your color bike is fastest. A couple non-cosmetic things that I've really enjoyed, that were pretty easy and REALLY nice to have have been the 12v accessory outlet, and heated grips. The heated grips don't seem to keep me any warmer, but they give me something really warm to focus on, so the cold doesn't seem quite as bad. Oh, and best thing that can be done to most any bike to make it look WAY better, is to paint it black. |

+1 on flushmounts - they will punch through/crack the fairing if/when a drop occurs (ask me how i know)
most flushmounts are crap and not visible, protons are nice, but expensive and require a relay as they are LED's. i did the stock to flushmount DIY - easy, free, just takes a little time and patience. solves problem 1 and they are plenty visible from all angles http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19043 |

I agree about the flush mounts, but instead I got micro signals, they only poke out about 2 inches and are plenty visible, much less likely to punch through because of your bars/foot rests will catch the bike before the lights hit the ground.

Mount a Stebel mini airhorn, and lose the "meep, meep Vespa horn" I make the bracket for it.
http://s678.photobucket.com/albums/v...view=slideshow And put a brake light modulator on it. I make those also! check ebay, plug & play. |

I prefer function/ergonomics and performance mods over appearance mods because they actually improve the bike. The fender eliminator is the exception to this... do that first, in the name of all that's holy.
Personally I would not go with a wide rear tire because it (IMHO) degrades handling. The full list of what I've done so far. I'm very happy with the bike in all respects. Jardine fender eliminator with LED plate bolts Factory seat cowl Zero Gravity double-bubble windscreen in dark smoke Area P stainless Quiet Core exhaust with hanger FactoryPro jet kit Philips Motovision headlight bulb Cycle Control rearset plates Shinto handlebar risers Sportisi hugger (and passenger footpeg removal) Tank grip pads and protector (can't remember the brand... not the clear ones) |

Oooooops!
Bad Boy airhorn (which makes the bike sound like a truck) and an AWESOME bracket courtesy of kevlar250! (Seriously, the bracket is brilliant. Fits perfectly and is super-easy to install.) |
