I'm going back to school to finish my degree this Fall and couldn't justify keeping motorcycling as a hobby. It wasn't about the finances, it was about owning two bikes and basically neglecting them while I will be either at school or work from Monday through Friday.

Pulled the carbs again to verify everything. Float needles are not worn. Switched back to DJ 98 mains. Adjusted air mix screws to about two turns out. Found out that the turns are not equal between both carbs so I gauged it of the pilot needle protrusion.

Jet needles and slides look funny.

Made a new sticker to let everyone I pass know that I'm on a slow bike... Its going to replace the sticker where the tail light would be.

You could cut yourself a seal saver out of a spare piece of plastic packaging and clean the dirt out of your seals. That works 90% of the time when people think their seals are done but are just dirty.

After reading this comment, I did some Googling, and I found dozens of sites with riders claiming this works great. Apparently a piece of 35mm negative or a plastic-coated playing card work well also. I found a playing card, tried this, and it seems to have worked!

It's raining pretty good right now, but when it dries up I will take the bike for a ride to test if the leak is really gone.

Today I fixed her misaligned front end! Super easy - socket wrench with 12mm and 14mm heads, loosen the top bolt on one fork where it hits the triple tree, and the bottom on the other. Pump the forks up and down a few times, hold the wheel steady/straight and realign the handlebars, then tighten the bolts back up.

No actual damage to the forks or bars, so everything's groovy now.

So also adjusted the chain, fixed the LED strips and gave her a good scrubbing.

I think it would be easier to list what I didn't do today... oil change, coolant flush, valve adjustment, carb sync, and changed spark plugs.

Just picked the bike up a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go through it and check things out eventually. But after PO swore there was "no leaks at all" only to have an oil leak on the first ride I became a bit paranoid. Long story short I found the cause which was his little ghetto fabulous RTV gasket repair. After that I decided to void everything he had said maintenance wise and now have a verified history

So far, I test-fired my test-fitted HIDs then tidied up the two wiring harnesses. It should have been a dual harness in the first place instead of two singles! Think it's OK to have the two ballasts fitted against each other like that? I'm sure they get hot.

I also went ahead widened the holes for the CCFL wires, cleaned up the lens and projector housings, and laid down fresh high-heat paint on the reflector (drying now).

Went on to install my new battery with SAE leads (battery tender, accessories, etc). I was surprised at how easily it started with gas from 2011!
Milk[Seafoam]: It does a body[tank of fuel] good.

I also found my dogbones for @subxero.

Other things: Found that none of my blade disconnects fit the headlight plug well enough to wire my HIDs without splicing/tapping, so I'm going to have to buy something. On top of that, I can't find my wire stripper/crimper because some genius decided to take it out of my automotive wiring kit.

I did go ahead and drop my 1157 red LEDs into the tail of the F-bike but the rest of that mod isn't ready yet (want blinkers to function as brake and blinkers).

I went ahead and used up the rest of my high-heat flat black spray paint on the heat guard and swingarm plate mount.

I found my the cracked headlight I bought from another member here so I can salvage the foam from it for my HID headlight.

I researched places for stealthily mounting speakers and I think I found a good spot. No, I don't plan to be obnoxious with them and only plan to use to surprise people certain people.

I also found the junk ignition that I have for analysis and researched a problem for @corksil. At the same time, I discovered how you can completely remove the seat cowl without the key (not just lifting the rear)! Granted, anyone who wanted in could just break it, but it's still scary that someone could take your helmet, tool kit, and solo seat cowl with no tools and without even leaving a trace.

I also dug up my Clymer manual so I can check the wiring diagrams and decide how I want to wire my HIDs.

Started the big bore build again. Scraped gaskets for a good while. I need to install my shop light in the back patio, get a small fan, and some citronella candles going. Summer time mosquitoes and humidity.

Swapped engines with my other 250, installed new exhaust, and 415 chain kit.

Also installed my Motion Pro Revolver throttle kit, ziptie mod, R6 tube and all other stock housing mods are garbage compared to this throttle kit!

Cleaned up the sprocket cover, front sprocket, chain guard, swing arm, and parts of the underside, as well as did the chain. While I admit I may have been a little overzealous with the chain lube, it seems that the Motul Road stuff flung off more than I had been led to believe. I still have about a can and 1/8th left though, so giving it another go and seeing if being a bit less liberal with it changes anything. Also letting it sit from noon overnight to see if that helps. :P

I just took pictures of the sprocket cover, but it got all over some other parts, too.

Not nearly as bad as mine was the first time I did that. Mine was a thick paste of pebbles and waxy buildup with chain-shaped grooves through it! Even when I thought I had scooped through to the metal and washed it all off with WD-40 I'd find that there was another 1/4 of buildup here and there. I often squirted a little in there thinking it would reliquify and release any buildup but when I finally took a look after hearing all the rocks scraping I realized that I was dead wrong.

Haha, that makes me almost feel slightly better about mine. It was a thick waxy paste though, and I did have to hit the sprocket cover repeatedly with cleaner and pressurized water. Yea, there were pebbles and sand mixed in there, as well as some string or thread? Also a bit of some plastic that somehow got caught in there while I was riding, I guess. :embarrassed: I'm pretty sure I destroyed the brush I used to clean it.
