Looks good Jason. How much do you weigh? I'm trying to get a feel for what springs to get. Have you messed with how much oil you used in the forks or are you just picking a spring rate first?

Give me till the end of this weekend to get all my testing done. I'm only going to need a dozen or so laps to get up to speed on the track so after the first one or two sessions I plan on spending the remainder of the two days messing with the suspension. In a moment ill be swapping at least one of my .80 springs for a .90 and if it still looks soft ill be swapping the 15wt oil for 20wt. I plan on taking everything with me to the track so if I find it to stiff I can swap back.

Went for a ride through Highland Valley Road (on Monday) both ways to purposely get bad gas mileage, yet I managed 63.9 MPG.

I'm crabby as ****. Started my first oil change since I bought the bike. Drain plug and filter came out no prob. Drained the oil, placed in a new filter no prob. Went to put the drain plug with a new crush washer and... It's not tightening. It's turning in the oil like butter.

One of the two previous dumb as **** owners must've over torqued and ruined the thread inside... ****.

Now what do I do? Meh.

Helicoil it is your only viable option. If you don't know how to do then find someone who does. Because you really don't want to **** up the helicoil.

I went for a great ride with @nautica down to the Steubenville area for some curvy back roads. We did almost 240 miles in about 6 hours (?) including stops. We made some time considering we didn't really know the roads

Rode it at Laguna Seca all day.

Fastest time was a 1:50 and I could do consistent 1:51's

New front springs and emulators feel amazing, I haven't had a single incident of chatter and I ever got the front to tuck in turn 2 with a smooth sensation. I love finally being able out brake riders without fear of losing the front because its on the bumper.

Although my sag in the rear is good he spring has to much preload to get it and the compression dampening is way to soft so its waging. I feel like Im riding a chopper through the turns. I guess I'm going to have to look into that GSXR shock and make some longer dog bones.

One more day to find that 1:49

Added some more PSI to the tires with my new handy dandy tool, the Craftsman 19.2 volt cordless Inflator. Works like a charm.

Removed red flames, then broke out the polisher and detailed the bike. Looks mint. Then did the fender eliminator mod and bought an angled piece of metal at home depot and made holes for licence plate. Looks a lot better! I wish we had bigger tires though

Still trying to figure out what color to paint the bike

And have to order a tinted visor for these damn sunny days! Feel unsafe wearing glasses in my helmet.

Replaced my rear brake pads, was running the stock ones for basically 24k miles. Got some cuts on my fingers from trying to break the caliper mounting bolts loose, but the whole process only involved 4 bolts and went fairly quickly. Went with Vesrah via kurveygirl.com. Fast shipping, great service, and they provide stickers and a sanding block free of charge with your order to prep the rotor for the new brake pad material. Will definitely place another order with them when my fronts need replacing.

Also cleaned and lubed the chain. I rarely clean my chain so I figured I should make it a habit of cleaning every oil change.

The English Lake District

Took her to the English Lake District. Visited a friend there (overnight). 300 miles there, and 300 miles back. But, it was worth it.

I did discover that 100 miles is about the maximum that I can do on the highway before I need a 5-10 minute break to stretch.

In the mean time you can wrap the threads with teflon tape snd re-insert....It would be a good idea to safety wire the bolt though.

Yep. My bike guy put some plumber's tape on it and then some black goop.. not sure what it was. I put it back so it would be snug, and then let it sit overnight.

This morning I put a quart of oil in, let it sit for an hour.. no leak. So I filled it, then went for a 10miles ride. So far so good, I'm letting it sit with a paper bag underneath to see if it'll leak. It's of course a temporary fix until I can figure out the Helicoil.

The ride was nice. I was trying out my WC lowered risers for the first time, felt really nice. My new jacket also felt great. The only thing that was kind of uncomfortable were the new A* Stella SP-2 gauntlets. It's probably gonna need some getting used to... Not used to the wrist movement restriction.

I went on my first "real" ride (ie: not riding around the neighborhood) on the freeway and I had sooooo much fun! I stalled once, but handled it pretty well. The wind factor was interesting, definitely didn't expect that (need to work on that a little as it knocked me around), so I went into a race tuck, which was way better. There was nothing, but a smile on my face the whole time and I got my first little wave along the way.

The bike has been down for the last 3 weeks, so I'm still working on getting it back up. This weekend:

-Fixed the front turn signal wiring
-Shimmed the cush drive

...and bent one of the rear adjuster bolts and the chain adjuster mount when trying to align the rear wheel. Well, she's out of commission for a little while longer. FML. Off to order some new parts.

Adjusted and aligned the chain.

One of the oil seals on my forks is leaking, so I used that as a lame excuse to get Race Tech springs and new fork oil to go along with it. Hope to install it in the next couple of weeks.

Laid my bike down in my driveway acting like a retard. Reminder, slick tires, grass, and popping the clutch don't mix too well. Now I have a reason to finish up the little bit of bondo work I need to do and paint my bike correctly

Maybe you just have a little dirt stuff in them. You may want to give the motion pro seal mate a shot first. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...ork+seal+saver

most leaky seals on dirt bikes aren't bad most the time and just need a cleaning to get them to seal again. I'm not sure if the same applies to street bikes but for $5 it worth a shot. You can also cut your own of of a plastic milk carton if your really cheap

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately, (woot) I've already bought and received new springs, fork oil, and oil/dust seals from Race Tech today and plan to make it a project for the weekend. I've also ordered that Seal Mate tool based off of your recommendation for the future.

Installed Sylvania SilverStar Ultras in my headlight. Got a few long distance rides coming up and need something to ward off the cows and aliens on remote highways at night.

Pulled the engine out yesterday and split the cases to replace the cam chain, have replaced the trans. bearings while at it. Don't want to replace the pistons and rings until I can get the bores honed. Am now at a point where I can reassemble the engine, or wait and order new big end and main bearing shells. I now know that there are no markings on the crankshaft, conrods and cases, so bearing selection should be easy.
Does anyone know where an oil seal with a 25mm (1 inch) O.D. would go on this engine 1992 Ninja. Seems there has been one hiding inside, found it when I removed the transmission shafts. It is not from the gear selector shaft, that is 22mm. ????

What I've done the last two days... Went out for a four hour ride to try out my new Diablo Scooter tires. I just replaced my stock Dunlop death tires. I have not been able to really go on a spirited ride cause of this..I've been relegated to just commuting. I went out to Scott Rd. Outside of Folsom. Last time I rode it was on a friends Gixxer 1k a few years ago. It has many hair pin turns and some high speed rollers..pretty much a sport riders roller coaster ride. After a few minutes of feeling out the tires I was able to push it far beyond what I thought I was capable of. I used all but a 1/4 inch of the chicken strips and Scrapped both pegs including my boots. I actually got the front end off the ground on a few of the rollers to my surprise. I am so amazed as to how well this bike turns and how much the Pirellis stick.

I decided to do the zip tie mod, installed a carbon wrap on the triple tree and mounted a clock/temp sensor and a cool Nofear radiator cap sticker I had been saving from my sponsored days. Been an awesome two days!!

No problem, they're from superbrightleds.com.

The ones behind the gauges are 194 bulbs, you'll need 4 of them I believe.

The ones behind the dummy lights are 74 bulbs.

info here:
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Replaci..._cluster_bulbs

I believe these are the 194 replacements that I'm using.

I believe these are the 74 replacements that I'm using. The only one I wish I had done differently was the turn signal idiot light, which I should have gotten this one instead as it blinks a little dim in the daylight. The other 3 are bright enough that they wash out the wording on the lens, so remember what the colors mean . For the idiot lights, remember to get the same color LED as the lens it's behind, or the color won't show through as true as it could.

Very nice!!! If I could ask, where did you get that 12V socket? I've been looking for something like that.
