Thank you. Metallic black. Looks great. These bikes ride really nice. At least I think they do...I have nothing to compare it to. I"m a die hard motocross guy. New to street bike game. The looks and price of the little Ninjas brought me over. Great forum BTW.

Flat black will look "glossy" with a nice coat of wax, metallic paint has a nice "sparkle" to it in the sunlight.

My local dealer only got one 300 delivered and it was white. I prefer the black as well as it looks nice in black.

Duncan Outdoors in Conway, Arkansas has a black one - just showed up Friday. I ended up with a white one from Kawasaki Sports Center in Little Rock this weekend. Love it so far.

I wanted to get a black 300 but now that I see it I'm not sure, it looks so scary. I might have to stick with what I got now.

The green one is the coolest if you ask me. But black is more incognito.

Would have preferred a "plain" green. Didn't like the SE livery that came on the ABS model, so I swapped it with a black non-ABS. Had to take the ABS parts off the SE wheels and put them on the plain black wheels.

Cheers to another AZ ninjette rider! I've got a 300 SE ABS and they are fantastic bikes. I've had mine for less than a month and still find excuses to go for a ride. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Lucky you got to swap some bits to make a black ABS. Wish the one I have on hold had ABS, I've read a lot of good things about ABS on motorcycles as far as safety.
So the dealership took that stuff off an SE model for you? If you don't mind me asking how much did they add to the price to do the swap? Seems like it would be a lot of work to swap brake lines and ABS controller. |

No. I did the swap myself. Being a long time customer and former "part time employee" with quite a bit of A&P experience, he let me take the 2 bikes home, where I'd have more room to do the swap. I would have kept the SE bodywork and just took the decals off, but the ones on the tank had been clearcoated and would have required repainting the tank to get rid of them.

After the bodywork and tanks were swapped, had to swap the gas caps back so one key would still work on all locks/ignition. Didn't swap ABS unit or lines. Did have to swap the rear rotor and the ABS piece off the front rotor from the SE wheels to the plain black wheels. When the non-ABS bike with it's new SE livery was finished and battery charged, I took it for a short test ride, filled out the A&P sheet and returned it to the dealer. Having everything off the ABS bike made it easier to install the FI controller, Targa fender kit, K&N, '04 10R front master cylinder w/ adj. lever, swich to GP shift, a temp. pipe hanger, trim the chain guard, wire in the SpeedoHealer and remove emission components and rear footpegs. Also painted the rearsets and various bolts black. Admittedly it was a nice deal, but it could only happen this way when one has a 20+ year relationship with the dealer and has his trust to do the A&P right and by "the book". Doesn't hurt that over the years, I've managed/wrenched for 3 race teams and bought $$$ of parts and accessories from him.

Thanks for the info on your Black ABS! I was making it much harder in my mind. I always have a problem realizing the easiest path and try to make things more complex.
Such a nice setup! Great idea to do the swap also. |
