guy with small wanker in FB bike club

So on FB I am member of a fairly local riders club, never meet up with them, never will but I enjoy bike talk and some of the guys in the club offer bike service and have contacts along with their experience and knowledge of particular bikes, quads ect... which is never a bad thing.

So anyway.

Guy posts this today

Anyone have any interest in a blue 2010 ninja 250? My girlfriend bought it brand new and never rode it - literally - under 50 miles on it

I say

Sell it for a few bones on clist or turn it into a track bike, lots of fun to be had on the 250 on the track, if you already race I've heard the 250 classes are tons of fun. Wish I had the time and money.

guy responds with this

I ride a hayabusa...no 250 for me haha

I think that the rear seat cowl on a hayabusa looks like a tumor...

Every time i see one this comes to mind:

yeah can't say I am a fan of how the busa's look.

I said this

that's the problem, people need to get over themselves, small bikes are a lot of fun, your missing out. A lot of those 250 racers are sick and generally come from higher classes because the competition is so much better and the races so tight, there is a lot to learn riding a smaller bike. The bikes are cheap and easy to maintain. Your loss

he said

Joe the problem is that people like you need to get over yourselves - quit telling others how to live their lives

I then replied

must have missed the part where I was telling people how to "live their lives" more like encourage people to look beyond senseless stereotypes and get over their insecurities and try something because they might just like it. That being said $3500? Good luck with that.

I'm sure he really works that busa hard

i've gone by busas in techy corners that were already dragging hard parts and i'm just like cruising along not even at practice speed... they are drag bikes... if you want to go fast in a straight line... great...

Question

I didn't think his initial response was all that bad. He likes his Hayabusa and has no interest in a 250. Nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't make a federal case out of it. Let him enjoy his Hayabusa.

It's ok to not be interested in keeping a 250 but he could've just left it at that. The way that he had to bring up his Hayabusa makes it seem like he's got ego issues.

Hopefully I just enjoy the arm snapping yank that 1000+ cc's provide with out being accused of compensating...

the main deal with a Busa vs a Ninja 250 is tire width. The liter bikes need a bigger foot print, and thus a wider tire, to put all that horse power to the ground. Not sure if people know this but the rear tire contact patch with the ground is about the size of one male tennis shoe... the wider the tire the more difficult to lean the bike (often called "turning") The TL is on a 190, busa is a 190 or 200, even a 210 The Ninja 250 is on a 130, that is why it's so agile and quick to respond... you tell it to lean over, it does.

What you will find is that the 125 and 250 class is more about the pilot then about the engineering and horse power... pilot mistakes are amplified because a loss of momentum can't be made up for by a little flick of the wrist.

I guess... maybe what this all boils down to is respect thing...

I respect anyone who has the spine to throw a leg over, grip, and rip. From the Vespa to the V-max, Gear up and lets go, we can argue about it later over beer

As we say over at ZX-10R.net... ok, ok, I get it, you have a big penis, I have a big penis. Alex over there, OMG... HUGE penis... now lets go ride.

I don't know, seems like you're trying to start a fight with him. If someone doesn't want to ride a 250 then whatever, they can go ahead and miss out.

As for what that one guy said about 250's only being worth about 2,400 stock is such bs. 250's tend to hold their value really well, so much demand for these little bikes.

he assumed as much because he sold his for 2800 w/a bunch of extras without realizing that extras don't really pay for themselves when you're selling a bike.

perfect example, aftermarket exhaust...costs a frickton, adds no resale value whatsoever (unless it's a full exhaust, then you get maybe 1/10th the value back if you don't switch it out and sell it separately)

just read the way the posts develop. I make a post trying to be helpful. He responds in a dbag way. I ride a buss...hahah. not necessary. He didn't need to say what he rides, because well it doesn't matter, but he felt the need to gloat about his stupid ass buss, and on top of it he needed to say, no 250 for me, haha meaning i am to good for a ninja 250, lol i would never ride that beginner p***y bike. Thats what he said for anyone who missed it.

All he had to say was "nah, i don't want to keep it" would have ended right there No reason to talk about his dumb bike or talk down on the 250 like a d bag.

This is the prob with internet fora. People get their egos mixed in with an interaction that escalates to stupid in half a dozen posts because anonymous has no brakes.
Don't try to "win" because it will suck out your positive life force. Too many people confuse the "last word" with "winning" an argument so it will just run and run.
If you see it turn into one of those Just walk away and zen out.

Yeah, I am confident when it is time to sell my bike, i'll remove all the after market parts and make it completely stock. I bought her for 2.8k at 9,200 miles, I bet when I end up selling her she'll have at least 13k miles and I bet you I will get at least 2.8k

These bikes are seriously the most sought after bikes. I mean you have a million choices when it comes to 600's and liter bikes, but when it comes to 250 learning bikes there really is only 2 and that's the ninja 250 and cbr 250, and let's face it there is "very" short supply of cbr 250s so people tend to just go for the ninja 250. I mean, just google "best beginner motorcycle" First 100 links will have something about the ninja 250.

I own 2 'Busa's - an '04 (1st generation) and an '08 (2nd gen.) - both purchased new. I always wanted a Ninja 250, so I got my chance recently to buy a new 2012 LE model at a deep discount - I simply could not pass up the deal. I thought it would be a cool bike for city riding - it is!

It's a very interactive machine for city riding. As we know we have to make full use of the engine and transmission to extract speed from it. It's a real hoot to ride!

The 'Busa's are amazing machines - great for an adrenaline fix!

Yeah, I've passed more than one busa, a ZX-14, even an RSV-4 on the outside, with one hand on the bars, looking back at them just to make the point.

I love race marshaling for our Taste of Racing events!

What am I missing here? His response seemed pretty reasonable. Didn't strike me as inflammatory in any way at all. You overreacted and even got called on it. Seems to me like someone has little bike syndrome.

That was me that sold my 250 for $2800. and in our area ninja 250s resale value sucks compared to other places. I could have made a little more putting it back to stock and selling the parts but that would be a pain in the ass. I see low milage 250s going for $2k not much more here if they sell at all.
