Unhappy Not even a moto, but it sucks all the same

I'll keep it brief given the lack of motorcycle stuff to analyze. I was in the leftmost lane to make a left turn at a 4 way intersection. My light turned green, I eased off the clutch and onto the gas and accelerated into the intersection what seemed like a short distance. I looked directly to my left and was promptly struck by some manner of silver car.

She ran a red light. With 3 kids in the car, and lacking the booster seat(s) she was legally obligated to obtain for them (note that this is what the officers on scene told me; I didn't speak to her). There was lots of screaming, but as far as I know everyone was okay. Despite the clarity of the situation and the witnesses who were kind enough to stay and provide reports, she plans to contest her wreckless driving ticket in court.

The good news is that I was on my way home from Home Depot with a freshly purchased lawn mower (side note: my lawn did not get mowed ). That's particularly good because its the only travel I did today that wasn't on a motorcycle. The driver side impact spun my truck 180+; that amount of force would have been particularly unpleasant (fatal?) had I been on a bike. It also made my decision about a track day this weekend much easier

It's been a ****** month.

She was really in a hurry !!!

Wide intersections are the most dangerous.

Thanks for the well wishes!
VaFish, I was a further south/southeast. Iirc, schools in that county start their summer after this week, so it may get crazier still

Ick. Glad you're mostly ok and hopefully she will lose her time in court. Running red lights tends to be a bad thing.

Glad you're okay. Is it just me or is everyone on the road a little more crazier this year?
3 of my friends have already been in accidents in the past 3 months.

Damn, glad you're OK!

I hope she gets laughed at for contesting the citation. Running a red light like that with kids in the car is hugely irresponsible!!

Seems okay, but then I'm not a doctor (appointment is pending). Nothing seemed to bother me at all until today, and it's my left ankle and some spinal erectors and assorted muscles along the left rear of my ribcage.

I'm not sure. I'll update the thread when USAA gives their assessment, if you'd like. The wrecker that removed my truck from the scene still had it yesterday afternoon.

lol, the important things! I managed to get the mower home, but I haven't even opened the box. With the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if it was damaged in some way

No doubt. I feel like I fared pretty well compared to the things that might have happened, but fortunately didn't.

I'd imagine it was a self propelled mower and he rode it home.

We tried to get it into the back of a police cruiser with no success. Only one of the people I called answered their phone, and they were out of state at the time, so I resolved to carry the thing to the nearest friendly house and shelter there until I could get in touch with someone. That would've been ~800m on foot, which isn't too bad aside from the whole just in a car accident and carrying a lawn mower situation. It didn't occur to me at the time to unbox it, add oil, get gas, and then make use of the self propulsion.

Just as I reach the side of the intersection with a bit of officer assistance, my brother appears on the opposite side of the intersection . Apparently he got the message and was actually nearby. He provided transport and some much needed levity from there
