Do I understand it right that the frame is made of steel? Or aluminium. And intended to be flexible and stable for high-speed riding. I thought stiffer was better at high speeds. My interpretation: they selected a manufacturing method that is cheaper/easier for small volumes. Just need to set up a shop with a frame jig.

And the fuel tank seems tiny. Perhaps 10 L. If my fuel gauge starts flashing with 3.5 L remaining, corresponding to almost 100 km range, the fuel gauge on the H2 will flash as you exit from the gas station after a fill-up.

One might also wonder at which tracks you would benefit from 300 hp. As I understand it even MotoGP stopped long ago trying to get the most hp from the engines, since they are at max throttle with no restriction from traction control only a few seconds per lap. Instead it's all about finding a combination of engine and traction control that gives best drive out of the turns.

Spa maybe? Hockenheim? No typical motorcycle tracks. And the time you gain per lap must be gained at the longest straight, by reaching perhaps 330 km/h instead of 300 km/h for a few hundred meters, then braking maybe 50 m earlier?

Still want one but not sure why.

I want to see the H2R ridden at the Isle of Man TT! Obviously it won't be able to run in any race class but I'm curious to see what lap times it would run. Now that would be an insane video!

That would be nuts probably one of the few places where this kind of power might decrease laptimes. The only other place would be Pikes Peak that i could think of

Blast to the past. The old Rad Greaves Hayabusa had canard wings. Unlike the H2, the Greaves RadBusa had, what looks like, wings attached to the axles

People forget about the Hayabusa when they call the H2R ugly.

It's not as simple as "it has to be stiff" or "its too flexible...

Don't make me launch isn't my rant on chassis design again.

also, I agree the busa is ugly while this has it's redeeming characteristics, it's just over the top styling instead of looking just plain bad

60,300.00 for the dealer?!?!

I'd expect that to list at at least 80,000 and they'll maybe have ONE for show off purposes only. Probably closer to 90,000

I guess their target 'competition' was the likes of the Desmosdici or the very super duper high end Panigale? That's in the neighborhood of 60,000 right? I don't know much about the pricing of anything that expensive.

That's stupid expensive. I'd rather have one of these! Much more useful and it costs $78,995.

I think the only track this bike will see is 1\4 mile long where you can use full throttle almost the entire 5-6 second race! This bike does not seem to be race course oriented like the superleggera and I bet the Ducati could lap a track a few seconds quicker but the H2 would pull it on the straights

Exclamation

There is no way that bike would be intended for 1/4 mile racing. Too tall, too short. Now the engine on the other hand in a properly designed drag chassis (if the transmission ratios are appropriate) would be "interesting". It could go mid to low 7's. But I bet it would not be very durable for drag racing at all.

The tubing chassis makes sense in multiple ways, including leaving plenty of room for engine/plumbing.

In reality, it is just boastful display of engineering capability, and it's intended mark is the new "world's fastest production motorcycle". If you want to see a real one, I'll bet they will have one or two on display at the AIM show in a couple of weeks in Orlando.

Y'all thought the H2R was ugly, Just look at the exhaust on the H2. It's dark and it's still hideous!

I think that hayabussa isn't ugly... I don't know, It's not "great looking" but it's not ugly either.

As for the 60k price tag for the DEALER, that's INSANE!

Any guesses on the price tag on the street edition?

I think that video came out last week. R3 (300cc)? New R6? Something bigger? I didn't see any "supposed inside rumors".

its tough to tell with nothing else to compare it too as well as the relatively short shots, I mean it is a large bike, and from what I can hear I doesn't sound like it is in the right rpm range to make the power it needs to come out of the corners quickly. A few of those shorts were very grunty, and where is the chirping.

It was uploaded to their official channel over 35 hours ago (no longer a "leak"). That is definitely a street version.

I can't even imagine hitting a bird at 200+mph, but Derek Keyes, an R&D rider for Kawasaki did just that on the H2R. What a mess!

I disagree, watching a lot of full laps of the IOM TT there are a lot of straightaways. The rider would have to adjust the braking points but the advantage of being able to go much faster in the straights where they just sit at 180+mph for half a minute would create a massive difference. It has it's tight bits but the extra speed in the flowing sections would make up for that.

pikes peak the extra power is indeed useless
