I wave pretty much to every rider if road and traffic conditions allow me to. Sometimes I wave even to cagers if they are courteous and don't talk on the goddamn cellphone.

Ouch. I met three bikers today, one on Harley, all three waved to me. Is that regional and people in Kansas just more friendly?

The KrazyWalle does wave!!!

I wave when it's practical and I see you.. Most of the time I waive specially since I ride 90% of the time in uniform. So mostly anyone on a bike respects that, so common courtesy is returned...

Haha, found this funny on another forum, that was lifted from another forum, that was lifted from another forum. Oldie but goodie.

Top ten reasons Harley riders don't wave back:
  1. Afraid it will invalidate their warranty;
  2. Leather and studs make it too heavy to raise an arm;
  3. Refuse to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for;
  4. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off;
  5. Rushing wind would blow scabs off new tattoos;
  6. Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley;
  7. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realised HD is partly owned by Honda;
  8. Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else;
  9. Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back - he impaled his hand on spiked helmet;
  10. Too tired from spending hours polishing all that chrome.

Top ten reasons Gold Wing riders don't wave back:
  1. Wasn't sure whether other rider was waving or making obscene gesture;
  2. Afraid might get frostbite if hand is removed from heated grip;
  3. Has arthritis and the past 400 miles have made it difficult to raise arm;
  4. Reflection from etched windshield momentarily blinded him;
  5. The espresso machine just finished;
  6. Was actually asleep when other rider waved;
  7. Was in a three-way conference call with stockbroker and accessories dealer;
  8. Was distracted by odd-shaped blip on radar screen;
  9. Was simultaneously adjusting air suspension, seat height, programmable CD player, seat temperature and satnav;
  10. Couldn't find the 'auto wave back' function on dashboard.

Top ten reasons sports bike riders don't wave back:
  1. Been riding long enough to know that they're not supposed to;
  2. Going too fast to have time enough to register the movement and respond;
  3. You weren't wearing bright enough gear;
  4. If they stick their arm out going that speed they'll rip it out of the socket;
  5. Too occupied with trying to get rid of their 'chicken' strips;
  6. They look way too cool with both hands on the bars or they don't want to unbalance themselves while standing on the tank;
  7. Skin-tight Kevlar/ballistic nylon/kangaroo-leather suits prevent any position other than foetal;
  8. Raising an arm allows bugs into the armholes of their tank-tops;
  9. It's to hard to do one-handed stoppies;
  10. They were too busy slipping their flip-flops back on.

Top ten reasons BMW riders don't wave back:
  1. New Aerostich suit is too stiff to raise arm;
  2. Removing a hand from the bars is considered 'bad form';
  3. Your bike isn't weird enough looking to justify acknowledgement;
  4. Too sore from an 800-mile day on a stock 'comfort' seat;
  5. Too busy programmig the satnav, monitoring radar, listening to iPod or talking on the phone;
  6. He's an Iron Butt rider and you're not;
  7. Wires from Gerbings are too short;
  8. You're not riding the 'right kind' of BMW;
  9. You haven't been properly introduced;
  10. Afraid it will be misinterpreted as a friendly gesture.

I keep my bikes at the shop most of the time, except the scooter. When I feel like getting in some serious riding, I often gear up and ride the scooter to the shop to get one of my other bikes.

Scenario: Oncoming rider sees geared up rider coming in black leather and such. (The scooter has a really sportbike look from the front), throws down a sazzup only to realize he has just waved to a scooter rider. It is freakin hilarious.

I wave to everybody, even scooters. I figure we are all in the wind on two wheels. OK, I don't wave at mohawk helmeted squids, or pavement dragging, mile long 250 rear tire size rolling road kill.

Here in Oklahoma, as well as Arkansas, Texas, Kansas... this area's pretty friendly and open to waving. I hardly ever dont get a wave; and I'm always waving as well. Doesnt seem to matter the type of bike, its rare I'm NOT thrown a low peace sign or a wave, a point etc. [I point]

I have actually had motor cops return a wave; after all, they are riders too.

Some riders wait until you wave. Be the one who waves first. It's a friendly gesture in a sometimes unfriendly world.
