It sure is winter... but what is awesome is?

Every winter, we all get a bit salty as we can't ride, but I wanna try something different this winter. In the spirit of this forum and to the benefit of all here, post what your looking forward to or maybe your plans for the next season.

I will go first, I look forward to

1. Continue coaching at even a higher level at Mid-Ohio
2. Do what I can to make other rides on street or track
3. Do more street rides this year with ninjette members that cannot make the track
4. Do what I normally do

Something different is coming too.... I have an idea, more to come.

#3 ride some new (to me) tracks

#4 increase focus and fun while riding and relax the physical

#5 reap the results of the above!

1) Figure out how to turn quicker

2) Figure out what that funny twisty bit in my right hand is for

3) Use more of the flippy lever thing under my right fingers

4) Accept that the bike is smarter than I am, so I should trust that it won't crash

5) Update my wetware so that perception aligns with reality (no, you're really not leaning as far as you think you are)

6) Get at least one more person addicted to the track

1. Wisconsin ride in the spring.
2. Tennessee ride in the spring.
3. Appalachian ride in the summer.
4. Colorado ride in September
5. Our fall run in the....autumn.

On the work front, I'll be going back to Mexico, England and Italy.
On vacation side of things. I'll be going to Jamaica in a couple of weeks!

Busy year! Woo!

Your plan sounds like my last year! I did a full Appalachian/Dragon/border->border TN ride last fall, and I did a TN-Wisconsin ride last summer!

1. win at least one race
2. win the overall season in my tpm gp moto class
3. get my roommate and his gf on bikes which should be easy since they're both interested and they want to start on small bikes too I also have my roommate interested in trying out the track
4. find a way to get on a race ready 600 this season or next ($$$ can be a pain, can't afford one and then race it too)
5. do more street rides, preferably 2up (I may need to get my hands on another bike for this or do some more mods to my 300 to re-add a passenger seat/seat cowl with plates for racing)
6. not create another graveyard of bikes/race suits/and helmets rather fix the bikes and stop destroying the rest
7. keep having fun

In no particular order.

1. Become MSF BRC coach.

2. Go on some weekend camping rides with my daughter and son in preparation for a cross country ride in 2017.

2A. Ride the tail of the Dragon, Back of the Dragon, or other weekend ride in the mountain twisties.

3. Decide what type of bike I want to buy next.

4. Ride in Rolling Thunder again.

5. Get son #1 riding. (Would make 3 of my for kids on bikes)

Pitch it as an "RV" to avoid spousal wrath. Go camping at least once to establish credibility.

Ha, we've already had the discussion, we're split the wedding money. I buy what I want, she buys what she wants. Both of us are happy. We've had a house for 4 years so its not like we need much of anything. I think she plans on using it as a deposit on a car, and I want a nice enclosed trailer and possibly a trip to Disney.

Dood... It's like you read my mind. This is how I justified my enclosed trailer. I was spending $2500 a year in hotels during my track season. My trailer paid for itself the very first year in hotel saving. Wife was happy with that it was money well spent.

She has camped in it, the kids have camped in it, and on those wet and windy track days she has a dry place to go out of the wind. It's at that very moment she said "I am glad we got this thing."

1. Finish the body work and custom paint job on the ninjette.
2. Go to the dragon on the first week of April
3. Find a 2 into 1 exhaust for a reasonable price
4. Buy another head gasket and actually finish the port job on the bike
5. Ride as much MX as possible

It's been warm enough here that I've actually been riding more than I did in the summer, but I'm still looking forward to properly warm weather so I can get around to all the maintenance I've been putting off.

1. Finally balance my carburetors (I made a manometer, then found out I used hoses that were just slightly too large to make a good seal to the carburetor lines. Oops)
2. Finally start oiling my chain regularly (I have been somewhat less than scrupulous about this...)
3. Do a track day. Go Kart tracks count, right?
4. Get some proper summer gear. My Aerostich is great in the winter, but it's not too pleasant when summer rolls around.

You guys don't ride in the winter? That's the best time to ride. It's cooler outside but the bikes run better and the air is fresher!

Go kart tracks are the bestest

I honestly have more fun at the go kart track than big tracks. But I still end up spending 4x the money on big tracks . When Will I learn?

"winter" seems to be best time for riding. But our winter is weak sauce. So it's nothing to brag about ha ha. last two seasons I rode more in 3-4 month of winter than rest of the year.

Goals for 2016:
1. Have fun and become faster , safer
2. Back to basics
-- I am getting a mini bike and starting over learning to ride in a parking lot around cones. Hoping to break 5 years of bad habits developed from self teaching to ride.
3. get into and do more flatrack
4. more dirt biking and maybe motocross if my health permits.
5. Sell off some bikes and down size to a manageable fleet of bikes (have been saying this for the last 3 years, garage only seems to be growing )

Minibike training example:

My boys and I were out in the woods a couple weeks ago. This is the only type of winter riding I'm interested in -

Not easy to keep it upright and pointed in the right direction, but it's fun. Looks like we will have some ice for ice racing this year, unlike last year. It's been below 0 for enough time lately to make decent ice. Got a buddy that has a studded CR480 that's ready to take it out and race.

I hope to make it to a race to spectate this season, and maybe stud-up something for next year.

I pulled the studded tires off my car today, so it'll probably snow here in the next week or two.
