I agree, but staying in the race is part of the game I suppose. I will say that between Bautista, Crutchlow, & Rossi there's some pretty good racing going on for 4th place.

I disagree. I think a ride through, points, or time penalty would have been appropriate but a complete disqualification for violating a rule made hours before the start of the race and simply passed out on a sheet of paper seems very harsh. If you look above and see how Marquez's tire looked after 11 laps then I think it's ridiculous for Bridgestone to be saying they can guarantee the safety of the tire for up to 10 laps; it clearly wasn't safe in general.

Yeah, Bridgestone has to take some responsibility here. They should have sent somebody there to test the track and make sure that they had appropriate tire choices available.

Race Direction should also take some responsibility. From what I've read they should have had a rider's meeting instead of just handing it out on a piece of paper.

Lastly, HRC should learn how to read.

This is the revised ruling when it decided they would not 'make' 11 laps (Saturday night)

Repsol Honda tried to be sneaky.. shot themselves in the foot.

But the Black flag to MM was just over the top.
****ups all round by Dorna, Bridgestone and the Race direction.

Phillip Island has been ripping tyres in the Australian Superbikes, WSB, and all classes of racing here (even 250 proddies!) since the resurface of the track.
You'd think Dunlop and Bridgestone would have researched. even if they didn't test.

I just watch the race a little while ago and when he pitted one lap to late I immediately thought they'd fully DQ him from the race, Why? because it's a promoters dream in motorsport to have a championship come down to the last laps of the season. Sure it's a screwy decision but these days the promoters will do anything to make thing interesting and keep the fans attention. Did you guys watch supercross in las vegas this last weekend with it's joker lane? Or how about it's randomized gate drops

DP was d*mn lucky he had someone right behind him to "swap" places with.

The black flag seemed a little harsh. What was on MM's pit board? A safe pit strategy is just to follow the leader.

This exactly. Look, Rossi is clearly the 4th fastest motogp racer this year. That's not as good as he'd like, but it is what it is. But here's the other thing: part of racing is consistency, not crashing, and not getting hurt. Marquez has been lucky about the hurt part, and Pedrosa and Lorenzo have not. Every single podium has been hard-earned, because he's always in the race (except when he was taken out), right there to pick up the pieces. Gifted? Not even close.

Signed,

Rossi fanboy

I'd gladly give up a testicle (preferably not one of mine) for MM's level of un-gifted-ness.

Wait. WUT??? I think you misunderstood me lol. My comment was that Rossi was not 'gifted' his podium finishes. Of course, MM is phenomenally gifted.

What's the best place to watch all this stuff?

I went to motogp.com and they wanted money (unless I'm mistaken.)

No need for me to see it live or anything like that, but it'd be nice to watch a race or two in the evening after work.

No cable TV or satellite or anything so it would have to be on the interwebs.

Here's a page that is updated with where motorcycle racing is shown on TV in the US:

http://www.cyclenews.com/TV-Listings

Short answer, you need cable TV. The only legit method online is paying motogp.com. There are sometimes torrents available in the usual sites, standard cautions should be applied.

I'm late to the game on this thread... but I just watched that race today and that was my first though also. Right before, "Hmm, I wonder how much $$ was paid to Honda and MM to make the last 2 races actually COUNT for something?"

I used to watch on speed but when they started delaying the race by 15 mins I paid for a motogp subscription.

It's actually pretty great, when I need a MotoGP fix I can watch old races or Moto2, Moto3 races.

The stories on it are strange. It seems like there are plenty of ways Rossi could have announced that change in a more appropriate way. "Jerry has decided to retire, Jerry is focusing on family issues, as his wife may still be quite ill, etc.". Instead he not only surprises Jerry & Yamaha by announcing he wants a change next year, and he shares it with the world not soon after via a tweet. I like the guy (Vale) quite a bit, but this wasn't classy. I don't understand why he made it seem like he's throwing Burgess under the bus.

Maybe he felt that he owed it to his long time friend to be completely honest in the media with the reasoning for the change. It's like he accepted full responsibility for the mix-up. He simultaneously shows that he is making strides to make improvements to his level of competitiveness.

Spoiler.....

Just got to watch the Valencia gp. I have never been so excited when I knew my favorite wasn't gonna take it. After I saw Marquez was gonna back off it was a no brainer, but WOW!! I thought at the beginning Lorenzo was just sandbagging to slow it all down as he conserved tires. Pedrosa showed his stuff though. The more I watch pedrosa, the more I like home. Pedrobot or not, that man can fight if he thinks it is a good idea
