More Throttle - the Answer for Everything?
My grandson and I were wrenching on the Ninja, having a great time. That boy will be a natural golden arm on the wrench. He is sharp, and only four years old.
We're talking as we work, mostly addressing his questions regarding tools and how everything on the bike works. I'm telling you there is nothing greater than spending time getting your hands dirty on something you love, and getting to share it with someone you love. We had a blast. Then he hit me out of left field with his unbridled enthusiasm and quest for more intelligence, "Poppa! What do you do if both wheels pop off at the same time!?!?!?" I thought for a second and then it dawned on me I knew the answer to this very question. Shocked me, really. Any good rider knows as well. "Jack, that's when you lay into the throttle and ride it out!" The thread about the brakes wearing improperly b/c of the missing spacer made me think of this. I was going to link it but now I have lost it. |

Not sure how well that works if you're going at absolute top speed and hit a bump and get wobbly..
Like speed wobbles on a skateboard, but more frightening because you're traveling at 102mph. (On a track, of course.)

The proper answer to his question was: "Prepare to fall the best you can." ........... and no, more throttle is not the answer for every situation ............ caution in tricky situations is the best way to avoid trouble. "Truly superior pilots are those who use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills." - Aviation quote Your grandson will become a superior rider for sure.

I was watching an Isle of Man video on youtube a few months back and a similar question dawned on me. Everytime those bikes got squirrely, the rider pulls a wheelie and everything smooths out. Has anyone copyrighted the phrase "Gas it or crash it". I'd be surprised to think I'm the first to come up with that

Gas it or crash it.
Your legacy now lives, assuming Alex runs this same server from now on and we have no EMP strikes. |
