It always sucks running out of gas.
Those officers were chubby! Good thing they didn't have to run after him.

What is it about SoCal, anyway?
Stupid things happen up here in the other corner of the country to be sure, but cripes... they do love their high-speed chases out there on the left coast.

Anyone else think that he chose to get inside the petrol station to give up to decrease the chance of being shot? Cops aren't going to shoot someone in a petrol station... they're smart enough to figure that out... right?
Or maybe it's just because the ground under the cover is dry. The commentator said the ground was wet. Or maybe he didn't want the news chopper seeing him giving up. Hmmm

i've seen worked up cops open fire in gas stations several times. if someones gonna do freak out and start opening fire for no real reason, they typically aren't thinking enough to not shoot into a gas station anyway. red mist tunnel vision. besides those pumps have auto shutoff things now when they're damaged

You know, I'm not a big fan of cops at all. But I must say, I am very happy that cops seem to look out for the riders safety (not ramming him or using spike strips).

Being a cop is one of the hardest jobs. If anyone had to put up with they do you would understand why they are the way they are. We only see the ocassions that make the news. They deal with morons, criminals, lunatics, and have to make split decisions all the time (or they could end up dead).
Most start out wanting to be the good guy who helps the community. After they experience the crazies, demented, and other wild out of control people in the world they learn they have to protect themselves first. When anyone runs into a weirdo, maniac, scary situation they call the cops who ALWAYS come to the rescue. Once you encounter these occurances every day you learn to not take any situation for granted (like being on a motorcyle and running into a crazy cager). There are bad cops but if you don't break the law you don't have to worry about them because you won't run into them. I'm no saint (or am I) but when I have an encounter with the law I show repect and I get repect and it has always worked for me (even when I'm in the wrong). I admit when I doing something stupid and when they know you're honest they will at least listen to you. My encounters are always traffic related. I just take the officer's response and hire a lawyer to go to court. I have gotten away with numerous speeding tickets in excess of stupid speeds ( many over 130, 150 ,or more) by just being honest. I have to add I'm never under the influence when operating at said speed. Also they were all when I was young and stupid ( I'm smarter now and don't go that fast unless in a track).

@CC Cowboy - must have been really hard arresting all those people for selling or smoking cannabis and dragging them off to rot in a cage. I really feel for those poor cops. I don't know what I'd do if those cannabis smokers or sellers were left to roam the streets freely. Oh - and those evil folk that choose to hurt society soo~ bad by not wearing their seatbelt. So glad we have the guys and girls in blue to protect us from those non-seatbelt wearing scum. hint: sarcasm
Just because someone has interacted with a whole bunch of "crazies, demented, and other wild out of control people" does not suddenly grant them immunity from moral judgement. These police still have free-will. If they shoot, taze, arrest or otherwise cause harm to someone who has done no wrong (take, examples above), then those police are the bad guys. Those police are the "lunatics". Putting on a blue uniform does not magically put someone in a separate moral category to the rest of humanity. Murder is still wrong, stealing is still wrong and putting someone in a cage for smoking cannabis isn't just wrong... it's so obviously wrong that you've gotta wonder if the people doing it are either utterly brain-washed to the point where their minds are indistinguishable from soup, or they're psychopaths who get some kind of f**k*d up pleasure from causing other people pain. I'm sure some, maybe even most police go into the force with good intentions. But good intentions, does not a good person, make.
