Aftermarket Gauge - Gear indicator

Hi all, I just ordered an aftermarket gauge for my 2007 hartford 125 vr(its actually just the engine in a DIY go kart). The only thing that wont work is the gear indicator. There are 6 input wires for the gears, and i believe it to be if wire 3 reads 12v, then its in 3rd gear and so on. Is there any way at all of getting it to work. If there was some electrical device that would read in my tach and speedo pulses and compute what gear i was in and output it in the way i described above. Or a method using magnetic sensors on the shifting arm. If anyone could shed some light on the situation or point me in the right direction it would be really appreciated. Thanks

(Running), okay I'm here,

Here is a write up courtesy of @jdoucet93, that may or may not help you,
https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91040

I have also done the exact same modification to my Ninjette.

It would help if you can supply the make and model for your aftermarket gauges.
