09 Ninja 250 HELP

hey wasup everyone, I just bought a used 09 ninja 250 with 5k miles on it, I'm new to the bike scene and don't really know a whole lot, I was wondering if its necessary to get a full service tune up on it? thanks.

If it hasn't had its 5k servicing then yea but most of it you can do yourself, I'd look on google and youtube to learn how to. It's pretty easy and saves you a lot of money and helps you learn to work on your new bike. Congrats on getting a bike and welcome to the forums. I'm from Cali as well miss it a lot, there are a lot of nice roads there to ride on, practice and get comfortable on the bike and then go hit some twisties to really get comfortable on her. Ride safely and ride within your limits push yourself but dont push yourself too hard. There is a time and a place for everything, especially in Cali were there are nice tracks for when you are ready to go balls to the wall. Have you taken the MSF class yet? Also gear is very important, helmet is your bare minimum but I'd wear gloves and a jacket as well, road rash sucks, you and I both know how socal drivers are.... Gear may be expensive but the first time you go down you will be glad you were wearing it, dont be wishing you did cuz you may not be able to wish....

You wouldn't happen to be from Cupertino by the way would you?

Ohh np I have a friend from back home with the same name Did you get an owner's manual with the bike? I personally don't refer to the manuals too much but it does have a nice layout of what maintenance needs to be done and give you a rough timeline.

There's a link to the owners manual in a sticky thread at the top of the new-gen tech section.
