Fishing

With the flooding in Houston, I decided to go test out the fishing in the retention ponds. Spent a couple hours and landed two small bass using a chartreuse crank bait.

Post your catches!

I went fishing a week or so ago and landed a 5" bass. It was during mid-day sun, so I was surprised I snagged it. Just used a little spinner.

5 inches or 5 pounds? I fix at the pond at the SW corner of 610 by the bayou. Where were you fishing at? I am tempted to see if there are any bass left in the ponds by the galleria.

I use nightcrawlers. But all I get are bluegills by me

Each time I use a lure, I get nothing. Need to refine my skills.

Sweet! I used to fish a lot, unfortunately it is lower on the list of things I want to do when i have free time than it used to be. Would like to get back into it, hopefully soon.

So far I found the reason why most NYers don't fish, it sucks lol. Even the stocked streams on opening day you get nothing. Prefer PA fishing, however I have yet to try lake trout fishing up here, only stream fishing.

It would be nice to catch a pike, I think I have better chances of catching a Stripper in central PA than a pike.

^ pike are pretty common in PA lakes and rivers, pretty much could expect to catch one anywhere. Strippers are not quite as common in my experience. I have caught more pike than I can count in my years (mostly smallish, up to 26") and I have never once caught a stripper but the only place I typically would fish that I would expect a chance at one is Lake Raystown. One of the few places I used to fish that is known to have decent numbers.

Caught just about every type of fish in the rivers/lakes in PA, except Pike. Perhaps I just don't fish for them correctly.

oh about the 80's or so. My grandparents had a camp in Northern Ontario for about 20 years. I spent a lot of summers there, and a winter or two putting up ice. One of the biggest pike I've ever seen got pulled through the ice. It was so big it almost didn't fit through an 8" diameter hole. 25+ pounds cuz the scale we had only went to 25.

That's one big honkin' trout! One of life's great thrills for Grandma to land. Thanks for sharing the pic!

I am sick and tired of these mother @#$%^&* snakes on my mother @#$%^&* boat!

And from a google image search, while people are claiming that they are water moccasins and that picture was taken in Texas recently, apparently they are banded lake Erie water snakes and the photo is from 5 years ago. The Lake Erie water snakes come up on land in large groups like that during mating season. So that's an image of a snake orgy.

I still would burn my boat and claim the insurance.

You would never believe the scale of it.

Last I checked, swingers have rights as well.

One snake ok, that many snakes I am getting out the flame thrower and marshmallows.

I quit fishing when my brother and his friend threw my fishing pole in the river (long long time ago), I finally got talked into going so I could hang out with my nephew (I was casting a nut so I wouldn't catch anything) Then my brother said hold my pole a minute, somehow I wound up fishing. I don't really like dragging fish out of their homes with a hook in their mouths just to jerk it out and throw them back into the water. Plus I really suck at fishing and never really caught enough to get "hooked" when I used to try to fish
