Riding without headlights and front signals

So i want to ride my bike that has my rashed up track fairings (see avatar) on to my friends house about 5 miles away so he can help me do some work on it. How would cops feel if i dont have my headlights or my front turn signals?

The road from my house to his is just a one lane both ways road so there is not any lane changing, just people turning off and onto the road. I will still have my license plate and my rear turn signals.

You should be ok, but then again, I took my ZX-6RR racebike out for one quick spin on the road right after buying it, so don't use my judgement .

No way to transport the bike?

5 miles? Honestly, I would ride it during the daylight hours with the least amount of traffic. Your friend could drive the route beforehand and call you if it is clear of cops. Use hand signals around traffic(not that anyone knows hand signals).

Lastly, if you get a ticket, man up to it.

You should be fine in the day.I know how that feels having a rashed up fairing. My right turns signals are gone and my right fairings are scratch up because some dick decided to put oil in the middle of the road and cover it up with flour. But be careful though, you can get a fix it ticket by a cop if not worst. My friend got rolled up on his way to drop his track bike at the shop. The guy had no mirrors and lights and got fined for $250 and had to walk the bike, luckily he was only a few miles from the shop.

depends on how much of an asshole the cop wants to be. I ride my bikes with no plates or lights around my neighborhood all the time when i am making adjustments.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it's a track bike only, and you get caught, it would be a hefty fine.

If it's a(n otherwise) street legal bike, almost every state allows that if you show up in court and everything is now fixed, the tickets will be dropped. Check your local laws and make your decision based on that.

I would probably just say to heck with it and ride it.

Maybe pick a time when the cops aren't around, like 6am Sunday morning. Not too many cops out on the road then.
