Thumbs down The everchanging society

So last year I had my motorcycle helmet and gloves stolen off my bike.
Long story short, we found the thieves. I got my helmet and gloves back. I filed charges.
Monday, the case finally made it to trial.
The jury's decision: Defendant is NOT GUILTY.

What pissed me off more was the guy told me that he and his brother did it before the trial started. When he went on the stand, he denied it all.
All the tape recordings clearly pointed out when where and how they stole it.
All photos and evidence clearly proved that the guy was guilty.

The attorneys and judge and everyone there were just at a loss of words.

This is the kind of thing that makes you lose faith in the justice system and want to take matters into your own hands. Vigilante justice.

Sucks man but not a lot of details there. What charges were they trying to get them on? Did you have pictures of them stealing the stuff. Depending on the burden of proof for whatever charges and evidence being circumstantial......

The burden of proof for criminal cases is as high as it is for a reason.

My investigator recorded his and his accomplices' confessions when he questioned them. I'm leaning more that the jurors felt bad for the guy. From what I was told, he was 21 and trying to get his GED. I guess they want him a productive member to society and not have a misdemeanor affect possible employment. His accomplices, brother and brothers gf, have a warrant out for thier arrest.

I was hoping for justice to be served accordingly.

I understand how you feel Cuong; I've always felt the same rage when I've had things stolen from me (a couple of break-ins and a mc theft). However; it is a fact that most young offenders after their first time through the courts, never repeat.
Though I've never been arrested and none of my shenanigans were as serious as property theft (other than stealing my parents car & liquour!) the fact is if I had been charged with all my offenses and served maximum sentences concurently; I may still be sitting in jail!
My point is: Though we may want to cut off their balls, keel-haul the bastards and fill what's left with lead; it would be a shame and a wrong to destroy the potential of a persons future contributions because of a stupid, juvinile act that many of us may have made at the same age. At 21; most males are still idiots!

Thieves suck, but they really granted you a jury trial for a helmet and gloves?

I was surprised it made it that far given the evidence to prove guilt.

It can go the other way. The guy recently who stole my cameras, and tools has just been jailed for six months and has to pay me compo since he can't get them back.
Then again that is the UK.
America is currently working on 'reverse morality' to demoralize the people for disarming of the "well regulated militia" and the shredding of the second amendment.

There's another word for that. It's called "kitty"fication of murica.

There are lots of successful idiots!

However; I said "most". I suspect you may not be a part of that group!
