Make your own gaskets
Well seeing how cheap I am, I didn't want to buy new copper exhaust gaskets and then fork over a ridiculous amount for shipping. Instead, I wanted to try to make my own for cheaper. I went to Oreilly's but all they had was this fibrous cardboard exhaust gasket. I was hoping to find the metal one. Anyhow, I hope this works. This is for my Newgen. I used an 11/16 sock and traced it with my auger dremel tool to cut the port out. The gasket material is 1/16th inch thick in a 10''x10" sheet.
Anyone ever made their own or has any experience with this brand or type? Mr. Gasket #77 exhaust gasket $10

i made my own for the first time a few months ago. i have since made a couple more. results are fine but its a pain in the ass and a half to cut them out. cheap though. though i've never done it for the exhaust, only the side covers.

Try placing the gasket over the flange and tap with a hammer lightly, quick and clean cuts. Works with lighter material- no sure with that heavy one though.

I've used all kinds of other gasket material for other motor parts just never worked with an exhaust type before. Cant do the stamp and tap method with this stuff.

If this doesn't work, loop fine copper wire many times and flatten it with a hammer, then heat it and cool it fast to make that flat washer soft again.
