The Re-Rebuild...
Ok guys.
Bought this bike back in '14, rode the piss out of it as a naked bike after reviving it from a blown engine from the PO. Got clip-ons, 70kg spring, '08 rear sets set up for GP shift, quick throttle mod, and lowered the front significantly; and I have a GSXR shock that I'm fitting to a bare frame right now. Got a full jet kit too, K&N filter, and no room for the airbox but I'm hoping to add that back in and hide it behind the (new/fun) fairings. No airbox felt like a handicap. Also got a nice dual-light headlight, but I'm hoping to ditch that for a small LED headlight that I can blend into the bodywork for the "racer" no-headlight look. Got a new fiberglass tail, and planning on a nice 1970's-80's look fairing. Something bulbous and classic that I can tuck behind, but also small enough for the 250. Maybe A1R250 or TA125... along those lines from Airtech-streamlining. Open to suggestions. Ran naked for a while, need something else. The frame is definitely getting chopped up to make it a nice single-seater. Probably run a different fuel tank as well, something more rounded. What other mods should I look at? Need new tires, so the newer 250/300 swing arm and tire is looking good, 17" gives decent compounds and those parts are getting pretty cheap. Emulators are in play, but I always felt like the stock forks were flexing badly, so maybe some GSXR forks? Such nice adjustable stock suspension on those bikes, but more power than I'd use responsibly.. Replacing this bike will be ~$1500, so my budget is around 1/2 that. Let's hear some suggestions! |

I'll also be reinforcing the frame with some plate in a few places... gusset the arch in the middle for sure. Standing a towering 5'7, the size of this bike makes more sense than stepping up to something larger. Plus, the roads I usually ride make more power meaningless, lean angle is more useful and more fun.

If you could get your hands on a yoshimura 2:1 exhaust it would help you out. It mounts on the rearset instead of the passenger footpeg mount, and it gives you more lean angle.

Already have a front stainless steel line. Stock brakes apart from that though. |

It's a custom made piece by @RacerX, I'm not sure what it's modeled after. I think e was going for 70's cafe-ish.
