Right there with you! I want a supermoto because it matches my riding style more than a sport bike right now.

*looks at bank account. Looks at craigslist. Prepares to clean up ninja to sell in spring or summer and replace with DRZ*

exactly...

I really would rather have a ktm, husky, something of the sort.

I'd rather convert one too. Just seems fun

I might consider a husky, but not a KTM. Also, converting a bike is just asking for motor trouble and required maintenance. The DRZ motor is a street engine that's got regular scheduled service intervals that are longer than dirt bike intervals. It's meant to be used like a street bike. That's my only sticking point; I want a street based sumo. So a drz400sm or klx250sf or wr250x or similar.

Is your bike even rideable?
I'm out having a drink cruising on the SF.

Supermotos are great and all... but I'd rather have one of these bad boys.

I guess I don't agree about that part, because supermotos don't exist anymore. Not in supermoto trim unless you buy used of course. Can I ask why not a ktm?

...they still make drz400sm's... And the used market for other SM models is pretty good.

How do you disagree? Dirt bikes require engine maintenance after intervals that are numbers of hours vs street bikes that require maintenance over intervals that are several thousand miles. If you don't do the required work, you're going to have problems.

No KTM because expensive and unreliable and did I mention expensive? Good lord, I'm not broke but I'm not made of money.

You confuse me.

I thought ktm was just as expensive as husky that's all.

And about the maintenance thing, when I said convert I meant from dual sport, not dirt bike. Does that clear it up?

An example of a dual sport that doesn't need much maintenance is the crf250l. I just looked at the crf250l. It needs a valve inspection at 600 miles but not another one until 8k I think. Or 6?

Idk

How about supermotos with two cylinders, what do you think?

Yes that clears it up big time. I thought you meant like a Yamaha wr450. Would be a blast but is not a street motor.

I'd test ride one. But I want to brap, not putput

that depends entirely on when it would be bought. If I were to get it I'd prob do a track day at mid-O with you and get it after or pick it up on the way. It's not really a priority bike for me as I have my own 250 but I'd prob be in the 1500 range if I decide to jump, though that 1500 could easily go into a few more track days

I may as well just go to Johnny Law and hand him my license if I rode the 450 on the street with sticky tires.

It's not that KTM's are unreliable, they have strict, expensive service requirements that get ignored. BOOM$$$$

I would deliver it to the track with all spare parts for that price. lol. We'll keep in touch as spring rolls around. You could sell sketchy and start riding my lady.

I'd be riding both. Ideally doing a 17" wheel swap on both. Yours would be the street legal one though that I'd use (with the backup fairings because I'm not a complete dumb-ass) to teach people how to ride on and to properly joy ride on. I'm considering selling my 300 and getting a 600 class bike but I'd want a street legal 250 and sketchy would need a lot of work to get street legal again

I had one loved it the only problem is the wind on one it gets pretty bad on the highway. And when you are at higher speeds it feels alot faster than on the ninja
