Is this gear okay for a street bike?

Hi I'm new here and I just got a red ninja 250r (pic below) for $2k, and am now 3rd owner of it. Needs a new light and more cooling fluid but it runs fine.

So I am on quite a budget so I was looking into the following gear is it got great reviews and looks pretty decent. (I am 6 foot 2 (1.9 meters) and am 17 years old)

Free shipping for everything. Does this seem like okay starting gear? This will be my daily driver to school so I am not going to buy pants, I'll wear blue jeans most of the time.

You will want to find better gloves, something with a sturdy leather palm. You should be able to find something around the $25-$30 mark. Maybe a set of nice gortex boots? Anything over the ankle will be better than sneakers.

The jacket and helmet are probably fine, but it's a really good idea to try on a bunch of helmets, it's important that it fits you well.

Those gloves look pretty worthless, look for some good leather gloves, and full gauntlet gloves are best.

You should really consider a good pair of boots and and pants too. Feet and legs are the most commonly injured area.

Sup man, im 16 so i know you're probably on budget, so i'd go for something a little more along these lines. Little more expensive, but don't you like your hands?

I can vouch for ****** Sedici torino's from Cyclegear for $50. They held up pretty goddamn good for me at 50mph. Only a small hole in the first layer. Never made it all the way through.

There are a few manufacturers that offer a long version in many sizes, which may be good to keep your legs and arms protected if you are slender.

Consider clear or vivid colors for each piece of gear.

Head and hands are very important to protect, but also protect your feet, ankles and legs: most wounds happen on those areas.

True, and something that most people forget to bring up when discussing jeans is that even if it leaves a tiny hole you'll have a LOT more road rash. I only had a hole the size of a dime in my jeans and my knee was pretty scraped up.

Just remember that it doesn't matter if you're buying gear for "street" or gear for "track". Asphalt is asphalt, speed is speed. That's why we bash on scooter riders in shorts and sandals just like we bash on GIXXER squids. Hell, we even bash on road cyclists.

If you're okay hitting pavement in the gear you own, then go ahead and wear it. I'm not here to tell you what's good or bad because I frequently wear denim on commuting/cruising rides. When it's a fun/long ride, leather 1-piece race suit all the way. Just remember: all gear helps and the best gear is the stuff you'll actually wear. No sense buying stuff just because it's good but you never wear it.

@choneofakind is right, makes no difference, protection is just that, protection.

I personally used FIELDSHEER gear, Bohn bodyguard system, and Oxtar boots, in different ways.

Also add pants to your list.

Try for gloves with a palm slider, too. All these gloves with a ****off huge knuckle made of steel and CF, yet the first part of your body to hit the ground is usually your palm, because it's instinctual to extend your hands out when falling.

Leather gloves are a must, over the ankle boots (steel toe and leather will work until you upgrade), textile with pads work for low speeds (under 30 mph), leather for highway on jackets and pants.
Textile will melt to your skin... I have friends with scars. However, it is better than nothing.

Season is ending, a lot of great deals will be coming up, also great used is better than "ok" new.

You can find some great bargains on used gear on Craigslist.
I bought a pair of like new Alpinestar Stage boots maybe four years ago for $30..! I still wear them everytime I ride.

I've had 2 versions of the AFX DS helmet, the fly is the same, I love mine. A bit loud, but plenty of air for the warm days.

Welcome to the club! I am going to recommend you pick up some knee/shin pads if you are going to ride in just jeans. I slid only ten feet one time and my tookus got some nice holes in my pants. I had to ride home in shame as some cars probably got a lovely view of my bright red underpants.

Goretex boots, or some nice sturdy combat boots. Don't go steel toe!

My opinion would be to gather what you can, and save money to upgrade to better gear as you go along. You choose how you want to ride your motorcycle. I am an ATGATT rider, and I said screw it and blew about 1,000$ on gear over a year/the winter time. I haven't regretted it ever since.

Find a spare 300$ lying around? Get a nice beginner/mid range helmet.
Decent gloves go for 150-180
Can use combat boots, personal preference
Riding pants can get pricey or just get some knee/shin armor to wear over/under jeans.
Jackets, even leather can go as low as 200-300$
