Talking Uber Dork Newb in San Francisco, CA

Hi Everyone!

My title about sums it up, I'm going to classify myself as an inexperienced (took a course a few years back but never felt comfortable enough) rider who spends way too much time online.

I am inheriting a '08 - 250r come November.

I am hoping to gain some knowledge, acquire some skills, and potentially turn it into a commuter!

I'm welcome to all information for female riders, safety, instructors, groups, etc.

Thanks for your attention!

Welcome welcome! I'm not a female rider, but the only real difference in being a female rider vs male rider (that I know of) is that gear is harder to find. And, if you're shorter you might wanna lower the bike :P

Hey welcome, there are lots of Ninja 250 riders in SF.

If you're looking for riding accomplices and resources, the Dames Don't Care Motorcycle Collective is a great bunch of lady riders based in SF.

typically fewer testicles to accidentally crush as well. if you think about it, girls have lots of advantages on a motorcycle... even have built-in airbags up front...... kinda....

Ehh, I dunno about that man. If I were a girl on a motorcycle with giant boobs, I'd be afraid of hitting the ground just right to where my boob gets torn off (like that one lady in The Great Gatsby).

Merci - Merci - Merci

Hola -- Thanks so much for the warm welcome!

@EternalNewb - At this point I just want to get comfortable again, so I'm hoping to find a place with reputable instructors in the Bay Area.
@Klondike1020 - I started using the handle several years back when I decided that someday, I will take off a few years from reality and travel the world. Without a doubt, travelling is my number one passion - closely followed by trying new cuisine and learning/experiencing different things. As I'm not quite ready to let go of reality yet (yay bills) I am still schlepping along.

Welcome missglobetrot! Getting on the bike is one step in realizing your desire to travel. Sure it's not worldly, but the practice is all the same. It's a fun means of travel to experience something new.

I am in the process of breaking the Cycle- Check out my Blog

I have linked a couple other travel bloggers. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have just framed it in this week so maybe I will get some interesting content building in the next couple weeks.

The thing about traveling and pursuing your passion is

"some day" is just not good enough

and "bills" and "career" are just not good enough reasons to give up on your dreams or let go of what you love.

don't undervalue yourself and never undermine your potential

decide what you love in life, imagine where you see yourself in 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, 3 and 1 years, then do something. little steps in the big journey.

http://joshdives.wordpress.com

I am going to try to become a travelblogger. Diving, motorcycling and adventuring.

I have friends who are traveling, living the life of teachers, divers, hikers and bloggers abroad. They are making a living, living their dreams.

certainly not getting rich, but they live life with no regret or excuses!!!!!
